we didn't eat here but came in for drinks when we were in the area. the beer was obviously very well kept but i have to tell you they were the most expensive pints we had all holiday (and we had a few i can tell you!!). £5.45 for 1 and a half pints of average strength beer.

i don't mind paying a little more for great beer in a lovely setting. But the first time we went in we were ignored by 2 gentleman behind the bar as they looked at a staff diary or rota or something. another guy came to serve us and was brusque and had absolutely no banter or hospitality.

i said we wouldn't go in again but there are limited choices in this area so we thought we would give it another go. this time it seemed to be the landlord + lady behind the bar. marginal improvement on service but a long way off friendly. i just get the feeling tourists aren't very well regarded.

it's a shame really because it could be so lovely with a more friendly and welcoming atmosphere.

Eat here three times in the last week while staying in Braithwaite. Food was average, cost was slightly more than average for the area. Children friendly. Shame about the staff, not very friendly especially the older guy who I assume was the landlord. Not very welcoming.
