Sadly the tea factory was not in operation as it was low season, but we still got to see all the machinery and the packing area which is operational all year round. The little museum was ok, but the highlight is definitely driving the 2km up to the lodge. There you are given a table on the terrace, looking out over the tea plants and the lake and a generous selection of all the company's teas to taste. We could have spent ages there - and nobody would have minded - but had a full day of activities planned.

The tea is cheaper to buy in supermarkets than the gift shop, though.

A small museum at the entrance is interesting bit not wonderful. This left us almost ready to leave, but fortunately we decided to push on and go for the tea tasting which is about 2km drive on to the estate. This made the trip!!!

The drive is very pretty, The views over the south from the restaurant is really nice and the tea tasting, which is included in the entrance fees, was simply great fun - especially for the kids.

The little tea shop where they sell boxes of tea was a little expensive (supermarkets are cheaper and the brand is available in shops all over the island).

Unfortunately the visit to the factory was not available since we arrived after lunch. The small museum is mildly interesting but the tea tasting high up the hill facing a beautiful valley with tea plantations and tall forests all around you is not to miss! Taste all kind of teas you wish in an astounding environment, and wish that this colonial villa is yours. We also have a snack from the restaurant just next door, and the combination with such tasty teas was delicious.
A bit difficult to find the place, stop and ask for instructions.

We visited this in Feb 2013. For your fee you can browse the little museum, have a tour of the factory and see tea from leaf to tea bag. Then a drive up the hillside brings you to stunning views and a cafe where you are able to try all the teas you have learnt about. There is a lovely restaurant next door, show your ticket and get a discount.
Good couple of hours spent here, more if you eat . Slight minus: no veggie meals but if you ask they will make something for you.

We visited Bois Chéri tea estates in May 2012, and it was very good. We were able to visit a very well planned museum showing the story of tea in Mauritius, along with how it is produced ready for the pot. We visited every stage of production which was very interesting, being given a guided tour by a well informed member of staff in our group of just three. Finally, we visited the tea house, set in magnificent grounds and with a lovely cafe and small shop where we could try all the tea we wanted, and make our purchases to bring home. A really great visit - essential if you want to experience part of the fabric of the island.
