“Excellent food shame about the kids”
Reviewed May 29, 2013

As locals we often dine and drink at this pub/restaurant. We enjoy calling in on our dog walks or taking our family and friends in for meals. However, this evening we encountered the worst environment being unfortunate enough to be dining at the same time as a family of 6. The parents happily downed their wine whilst letting their children run through the bar & dining room and play hide and seek both inside and out. I wonder how much of an inconvenience children have to cause before the staff step in and say something. Having spent almost £90 on a meal for three I was disappointed that they chose to ignore the nuisance these children were causing many of their paying guests. It wasn't even me that got up and closed the internal door as the children consistently ran in and out leaving the door wide open. Clearly the parents didn't give a damn but surely the staff should. It was like eating a restaurant quality meal in a McDonald's or happy eater atmosphere. Perhaps I should just stay at home in the school holidays. I certainly never let my children behave like this when they were young.

“Good value, average food”
Reviewed May 28, 2013

We visited The Ship over a bank holiday weekend and both ate Caesar's salad. The portions (given that they were the smaller 'starter' version) were enormous for £6.95. The main course version must be a sight to behold.

The salads were fresh enough but lacked sauce and were somewhat dry. The chicken was fairly tasteless and the addition of half a hard boiled egg didn't make for the best Caesar's salad I've tasted. It was passable. We've chosen from their tapas menu before and found that a lot more interesting.

Entertainment was provided by a waitress crying her eyes out in front of the customers in the bar because 'the chef shouted at me'. Never a good look.

The outdoor seating area can be a bit crowded with kids and dogs but it has a friendly atmosphere.

All in all a reasonable pub with reasonable food at a good price.

“Loved the room...”

Room excellent (room 6), great bathroom and huge bed! Food ok but not quite as good as expected, a bit too plain and average quality. Good atmosphere in the bar.

“Lunch with friends after a walk along the lovely coastline”
Reviewed May 8, 2013

Lovely restaurant/pub with modern rustic decor. Nice menu although a light lunch is not necessarily what is catered for here although they were happy to serve starters as a meal and they were delicious. Not cheap 'pub grub' but good food at good food price.. Good selection of beers available.

“Great North Norfolk venue”
Reviewed May 6, 2013

There's no better place after a day on Brancaster beach! The atmosphere in here is great and the food doesn't disappoint, whether its fish and chips in the bar or full menu in the restaurant. The service as with all the Flying Kiwi Inns on this stretch of the coast, is cheerful and efficient.
Book early at busy times, it's very often full.
