“Would not pay full rate here for rooms and definitely not for breakfast”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 1, 2010

I stayed here for two nights in a studio chalet at a great rate and found the room to be smallish and very clean, though not really all that swanky. The bathroom was small and some fittings were cheap, but on the whole it was fine. Good for the low rate in any case.

The deal also included a free breakfast for one, which was promoted in a confusing way (ie> 1 free breakfast for 1 night, 2 free breakfast for 2 nights ... why not just say "1 free breakfast for each day you stay"?) This led me to believe there would be two free breakfasts on the second day rather than 1.

They value their breakfast at $27 each, but had a special rate of $18 and thought this was value for money. It isn't. I've eaten just as well at hostels with hot breakfasts included in the price of $55 for room and breakfast. We ate one breakfast there on the first day due to convenience and the need to sort breakfast out quickly, but the next day we went into Launceston and purchased 2 breakfasts of similar quality (meaning, not flash) for 14.50, thus making a saving.

We also overheard another customer complaining about spending $60 on breakfast and then not wanting to eat much. Yep.

We were going to stay longer to look at the chocolate shop and purchase some sweets, but the breakfast deal problem put us off spending any further money there.

On the whole i would go back there for a similar good rate, but I would not be interested in eating there. I think they must have been under the impression that they were serving a gourmet breakfast of unusual richness or something. They didn't even cook eggs to spec!

I booked to stay just one night in the Hotel part of this resort with a friend. The room was very clean, the beds comfortable and price I paid - excellent value. The resort facilities are varied - the pool and spa area looked great, the golf course as well, but the tennis courts were terribly run down - what a great pity! The "Pro" Shop had hire racquets on display - including three with broken strings and one that was totally smashed. In reply to our comments about the Tennis Court and the condition of hire racquets the person working in the shop said that guests were a bit rough on them. The restaurant looked great but we couldn't get service for lunch even though they weren't busy. Breakfast was powdered eggs (WHY??) and a selection of cereals and some hot foods - it was not a meal to remember. Accommodation wise - it was great night, convenient yet quiet location.

We recently had two visits here both of 2 nights. One in a cabin facing the golf course
and the other in a cabin facing the lake. It was quiet and relaxing with a great spa in each cabin. The golf course cabin had 2 queen beds in separate rooms with 2 TVs. The
lake cabin was more spacious with just the king bed. There were shops on the grounds
within walking distance along with specialty shops which cater to the tour buses that visit regualarly. It is about a 25 minute drive NW from Launcestion and there are two
huge Woolworths along the way for you to stock up on supplies. Add another 10 minutes if coming from the airport which is south of Launceston. We paid around $120/night
and this is about right. Certainly not worth $300 which is sometimes quoted.

Stayed in a "Luxury King Villa" , this turned out to be a transportable builing like a big caravan. Everthing was cheap and nasty and not worth cost. If I had wanted to stay in a caravan park I would have done so and not payed the $250 for a "luxury villa". This place looks more like a refugee cap than a Hotel. The food was very expensive and very poor quality. The pool was dirty and most of the gym equipment was unserviceable. When I complained to the Mnager I was told the owner was overseas and would not spent money to fix anything. This place shopuld be closed down or completely refurbished.
I have stayed at hundreds of Hotels. This place is the worst by a long shot. Dont even think about booking this place even if they offer big discounts. The webpage is a huge deception.

We stayed here only one night, when most of Launceston was booked out and this was the best deal available. We booked through the hotels website and received a $20 meal voucher for their resturant and also access to wireless internet. We got the king size waterfront villa - this was along the lines of cabins in van parks. It had a king size bed and full size double spa, with a little deck that over looked a dam on the golf course. The outlook was quiet nice, but there was very poor mobile service throughout the resort and the wireless internet could only be access from the main buildings in the resort. It was very quiet except for the birds. We only did the buffet breakfast which was very poor. No fresh fruit, the eggs tasted like they were from a packet - but I gather the place caters for large tour groups. We tried out the mini golf, also a bit old and worn out and expensive again for what it is. Our hit for dinner is to head down to the Rosevears Tavern just at the bottom of the hill to the north on the river. Fantastic meals and beautiful location right on the river. Great value for money. I probably wouldn't stay here again, but can see why families may like it. However you will be handing out alot of money to the kids unless you can get some stuff included.

This resort is a great place for all types of holiday makers, It is ideally located about 10 minutes drive from the City of Launceston, just on the doorstep of the wineries. My kids are of varying ages for 4 - 16 years old, they all had a ball. There was heaps to do and the staff in all departments were fantastic and friendly. A job Well done and we will certainly be back when next in Tassie.

We stayed in Waterview King Spa. It looked very new. The inside was furnished modernly, although there was a stain on the bed spread. We requested a stovetop and was given access to one at free of charge (although it did have burnt markings on it).
The outside of the suite looked like a cheap demountable which made it look quite tacky.

We were given a $20 voucher for booking from the website, and used it for dinner as a few reviews mentioned the breakfast wasn't good.
We ended up getting the buffet. Quality of the buffet was mediocre, it was like a a buffet at an RSL. The pavlova wasn't made with fresh cream, though the fruits used were quite nice.

We didn't use any of the other facilities, so we can't really comment on these. Would've liked to visit the chocolate cafe, but we didn't have time.
