“Good value for money”
Reviewed April 10, 2013

This is our second time staying at this resort after the first time 2 years ago. We booked through the internet site which have quite a fair deal for a simple double room. It's basic, clean and comfortable.

The bathroom is small but it's clean and the shower is good. The room itself has ample space for 2 adults and a parking space right in front of our room. The room comes with a microwave and mini fridge. There's a small dining table outside our room which we can enjoy wine while eating our dinner. It's quiet and peaceful and unspoiled by light pollution, and during a clear night, one can really see plenty of stars :)

There's a BBQ pit and it's functioning well. The resort landscape is cosy and consider well maintained, but the shops within the resorts look abit "tired", but it never affects our stays. One can really enjoy the beautiful and quiet night staying at the resort. We didn't use much of the resort facilities so I couldn't comment much on that. It's about 10 minutes drive to the nearby Woolworth and gas station. So, location wise, it's kinda convenience.

Overall, it's a lovely place to put a few nights, and we will come back in the future :)

Booked a cheap room via wotif.com, which might explain why I was placed in a small and very dark room in the Chalet section. Although the website advertized free internet throughout the resort, there was none in my room, and it's apparently ALWAYS that way, per the manager I called to report the problem. She instructed me to walk down to the lobby to use my laptop at the reservations area, not the best option when it's rainy and you were poised to veg out in pajamas for the evening. In-room TV guide completely inaccurate; again, when I complained about this, the staff matter-of-factly told me they'd reported this to the management, but the problem has never been rectified. Pool area shabby, heated spa pool area stained a tea-brown.

Otherwise, the place is pleasant enough. The rooms had extra pillows and towels for pool use, and it's nice to have a place to eat on site, even if the meals weren't of high quality (artificial scrambled eggs, instant coffee even when paying for the cooked breakfast (although espresso available at a premium). Staff pleasant, if a little jaded and not at all apologetic enough about the shortcomings of the facilities.

I found the decor a bit cheesy (Alpine Swiss village), but the landscaping was nicely maintained and pretty to walk and drive through. Seems like a good spot for kids, what with climbing apparatus, jumping pillows, duck ponds, paddleboats, but not much for adults unless you like golf, or short laps in a very small pool. Spa and beauty treatments were very expensive given the modest calibre of the place.

In sort, fine for a family stay, not a place for pampering and relaxation.

Room Tip: Ask for something with a view, or you'll likely get stuck in a dark, cellar-like room like mine...

We stayed for 2 nights in a Golf Spa Villa. It was made up of a living area with a kitchenette, a bed another bedroom and a bathroom with a large spa (which was divine). It was on the smallish side for a family of four but as we were hardly in the room except to get changed and sleep so this was of little worry to us.

We ate at the Restaurant for dinner over two nights and had breakfast one of the mornings we were there. The menu was great for both kids and adults and having the jumping pillow right outside the window where we sat, meant as parents we got to enjoy our meals and wine in peace! The service was very friendly and accommodating especially with the children's meals.

The best part about this resort is that it caters so well for families. There is plenty for everyone to do from swimming to mini golf, paddle boats, jumping pillow, tennis, games arcade...There is a lolly and ice cream shop in the village along with a bakery, newsagency and clothing shop...basically you really don't have to leave the resort at all, depending on your budget, but we found that it was reasonably priced.

The grounds are well kept but some areas are a little "tired" but it didn't affect our stay at all - we came here for our kids and we will definitely go back as they had such a great time...The one issue I had was that the heated indoor pool was freezing cold and the spa was not much warmer...A little disappointing as our kids love swimming but it was really too cold to spend a great deal of time in there...

Comfortably far from the main highway and set high on a hill to the East of the Tamar Valley the resort park now sits amongst tracts of middle class housing. That sounds like a damning start but the setting is such that it easily accommodates mixed use of the land. The park itself is a mix of accommodation - chalets and bungalows surround a main hotel building. To the south lie a golf course and small lakes where chalets nestle along the lake side. Great thing is - it's not a shared use site with caravans and motor homes so the whole place has a neat and tidy appearance so often missing in so-called 'resorts'.
We stayed in a wooden bungalow - small verandah, spacious living room, two bedrooms, full kitchen area off the living room and a good full bathroom too. Nicely designed but showing signs of wear and tear. The staff are smiling and helpful and housekeeping of the essentials was very good in the main. However detail didn't stretch far into the area of dusting and polishing of edges and ledges. The bungalow was not air-conditioned and we had to make full use of the supplied fan to cool it after a day closed up in this autumn's warmer-than-average spell. Incidentally, we got all of this in March 2013 for just $A109 a night so it's something of a bargain buy.
You don't have to use the on-site restaurants and bars - if you are self catering there is a large well-stocked Woolworth supermarket a couple or three kilometres away.
On a clear night it's worth the walk to a small rotunda atop a hill in the grounds. The night sky is wonderful and relatively unspoilt by light pollution. As a base for touring the north east of Tasmania and avoiding Launceston's traffic you'll not find better at the the price.

Room Tip: Just a possibility - not tested - that the chalets by the lake may be mossie central!

Stayed only one night so i am not sure i have had the 'full experience'. We were part of a tour group so the hotel was booked by the travel agent. The location is rather isolated; if i was on my own, i may not choose this place as it was kind of isolated.

Our room was on the second floor. There was no elevator, so it may be difficult for those with mobility problems our if you have heavy luggage.

The room itself is very lovely and spacious. there was a lovely balcony too. The best thing about this resort is the rooms.

The breakfast was ok. I found it strange that for a 4star resort, i had to get the cutlery from the cashier, the cutlery wasn't laid out on the table - made me felt like i was in a hostel or school canteen. I was also surprised that the coffee was not brewed in a pot. We had to make our own coffee with the sachets of instant coffee granules and hot water.. These may sound trivial, but i think they spoilt the resort's four star image.

The resort has a nice pond, and apparently also has a lotof activities for guests. However as i was with a tour group we had to follow the schedule and didn't have time to explore the place fully.

I am a member of the spa/gym and swimming pool. Great reception staff, and the maintenance man looking after the spa is very friendly and efficient.
The gym equipment is very good, the swimming pool is smallish but more than adequate on quiet days. The Sauna controls really needs to be sorted with a new function box! The Plants could be thrown out as they definitely lack TLC... the Administrative office abutting the pool's glass is taped up in areas giving a very poor impression and there are no lockers for our belongings.
Toilet and shower facilities very tired looking.. such a shame because this establishment has all the makings of a great place but it desperately requires an overhaul.

This place is good for the money but leaves you chained to eating in their restaurant or driving/ getting a taxi elsewhere (and everywhere apart from KFC in the locale shuts at 8pm). Give it a bash if you're a young family maybe or an elderly couple but if not just get a place in launceston. On the other hand you are in the wine region with some great wineries a short drive away and the rooms are of very good quality at this price with some lovely facilities on site. Just not our cup of tea!

Room Tip: Go for a suite, it's not much more!
