“Nice and clean and just what you need.... but I found it noisy”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 12, 2012

Purpose built units, nice and clean, but seems a bit souless. I found the aluminium extruded colonial style banister and posts a bit tacky, and they creaked a bit too easily. Doors seem to slam and echo with regularity and there was a fair amount of noise came through from the carpark - even though it wasn't very busy. Good friendly and informative staff at reception.

Room Tip: Don't expect the rooms facing the car park to be quiet compared tot he road.

I always try and stay at the Quest apartments. This one really stands out with it's great location, clean rooms, nice kitchen, balcony and good internet.
If you are coming to Moonee for the races or for business/relaxation, I highly recommend this hotel. It is also 1 minute from transport (trams).
Thanks Quest.

Room Tip: They have 3 levels. The top level is the best (of course).

Booked a 2 bedroom apartment for a weeks stay.
Pluses - convenient to Puckle St. About a 10 minute walk to train station.Rooms are a decent size. Generally quiet except when Moonee Valley races are on.
Cons - The floor plan and quality varies significantly between rooms. One 2-bedroom only had one tiny storage closet. The king size beds are just 2 singles pushed together. Some matresses were well past their use by date. Parking requires a room key to access; only problem is the security gate never worked during our stay so parking became a lottery. Staff showed no interest in policing the car park. Pool and BBQ area look like an after thought, stuck in the middle of the car park.

Stay quite often at this property when travelling to Melbourne on business as it is close to our interstate office at moonee ponds. The property is comfortable and clean and reasonably quiet. If you are not in a ground floor apartment then you will get fit climbing stairs. Not all rooms have digital clocks, some have the old alarm clocks, which can be annoying having the constant "ticking" when it is quiet and also annoying that you have to turn on light to check time for early morning starts. Some beds are rather hard - avoid 16b in the Sunline wing especially where you dont like extra firm mattresses!

No restuarant but there are many top class choices just 5 minutes walk away. Quest does offer breakfast packs for purchase, else you can pop inot Woolworths just a short walk away.

If travelling for leisure then you are in luck, Moonee Valley race course is literally right outside your front door, and Flemington is only a 10 minute drive (approx 30 minute walk) away, so it is a good weekend base. Puckle street shops are OK, and within short driving distance of DFOs, HiPoint Westfield, and other shopping outlets. Have stayed there also when coming to Melbourne for the footy - close to tram and train into the city, and near Essendon's training ground.

Room Tip: Ask for a ground floor room, as no lifts. Avoid apartment 16b unless you like hard matresses.

I emailed the property to make a reservation with no response. The email didn't bounce back so I thought they must have got it so I call to check on my reservation. They did not have my reservation so I again tried to make a reservation giving all details needed including a credit card. When asked if I would like a confirmation email I said yes however did not receive one so a few days later I called to ask where it was to be told it was already sent. They did send another copy although the bedding configuration was wrong, there was no ground floor request and the payment mode was wrong. They called and emailed a charge back request for this reservation which I was paying on arrival after I had already given my credit card.

So for a one night stay in a "quality" hotel I wonder where the customer service is because if you treat a one night stay like this what about all the other guests?

Room Tip: Make sure they get your reservation right in the first place.

This accommodation was decent, it doesn't have a restaurant but has arrangements with local eateries. There are no lifts and there may be 1-2 flights of stairs to your apartment.

In short - a comfortable serviced apartment that could use a bit of a scrub.

In detail - we chose to stay at the Quest Moonee Valley on our last trip to Melbourne as we were traveling during the Australian Open tennis tournament and most of the CBD hotels were either full or had hiked up their room rates excessively.

We stayed in a two bedroom apartment for one night. It was relatively modern and comfortable but looked like it need a bit of a scrub. Whilst all the bed linen and towels etc were spotless some of the walls and doors and dirt marks and scuffs on them, the front door had a big chip out of it and the sofas had stains on them. These things stood out because the rest of the apartment was so nice. We didn't see any other rooms so we're not sure if this problem only applied to our room.

Parking is provided free on site. Access is through a secure boom gate that uses your room key to open.

We had a slight hassle on check in - there was no one at reception. We turned up 15 minutes before our allotted check in and had to wait a few minutes before someone showed up. It might be best to call ahead if you're early, or late.

The only real downside for this hotel is that it is a bit out of the city. If you're in a cab you'd be up for at least $15 for a ride into the CBD. But if you were going to the zoo or to the State Netball and Hockey Centre it's not too far away - a drive though, not a walk.

There is definitely not a lot of food options - unless you like KFC. There are a couple of asian restaurants nearby - perhaps a 5 to 10 minute walk.
