“Excellent place to stay”
Reviewed April 6, 2014

My wife and I had one night here. We had dinner as part of our package, we shared the suckling pig and the food was really good - but way too much for us.

We played the Henley course the next day. This is a really top class golf course, very tough, but also quite fair. If you hit it in the fairway, you will always have a good lie, but depending on which side of the fairway you hit, you may not have a easy shot to the pin.

Will return one day.

My fiancé and I had an amazing experience at the Bella Restaurant on Friday (04/04/14). Superb service, faultless 3-course dinner spread over beef tataki, scallop ceviche, snapper fillet, veal ribeye, heirloom tomato & basil salad and decadent yet light broken ice cream sandwich to share.

We were wowed by the top quality food and surprised by their more-than-reasonable pricing. We had lovely chats with the staff but at the same time were also treated with fine dining service.

We are so happy to have had this beautiful experience and now have another restaurant added to our list of must-return-dining-experiences.

Keep up the great work!

We stayed for one night in a standard room. the usual hotel cabinets etc were a bit tired and had some wear. But the hotel was in a lovely spot in the middle of a golf course. The hotel was really quiet and there werent many guests but that has its plusses, cos it was dead quiet during the night. The room was quite spacious and meticulously clean. there was plenty of outside and undercover car parking. We had dinner in the restaurant, it was not fine dining but it was tasty? It was hard to get service in the bar. I would happily stay there again.

Thank you for choosing to stay with us on your recent visit to the Yarra Valley.

Since taking over management of the property in February 2013 and following a long period of receivership, we have worked closely with the owners on a refurbishment plan for all guest rooms and the public areas of the Hotel. This commenced in November 2013 with the replacement of all televisions and we are about to commence laying new carpets throughout. There’s still plenty more to come over the next 12 to 24 months and I hope that you notice the changes on future stays.

I appreciate you taking the time to provide us with feedback of your stay and look forward to sharing this with my team.

We hope to see you again on your next getaway!

Regards

We did the Yaara Glen races Australia Day weekend! Room was lovely with a little gift on our bed on arrival . Staff were lovely and very helpful Breakfast was out of this world [ this was included in our room rates [ but wouldn't pay $30 pp] Golf course and park land absolutely stunning with paths for that early morning walks. Pool was closed to early, being at the races all day we were looking forward for a swim' bit disappointing' Had a couple of drinks instead sitting outside the bar. Drinks were a little expensive but enjoyable Overall a beautiful place to stay for a long w/end

Room Tip: We had our room facing the back of the building but still nice views I think If you could get room...

The hotel is situated in the middle of two 18 hole championship golf courses, one of which was designed by Jack Nicklaus and hosted the Australian PGA championship a few weeks ago. The large accommodation is a good 4 star.
When we stayed there were just 16 guests in this vast sprawling hotel with 120 rooms and we had the whole dining area to ourselves. Probably due to the fact that there were so few people to feed the choice was smaller than we would otherwise expect – no hash browns, no baked beans, no marmalade, and the eggs were cooked as we asked for them (omelettes a$5extra!) rather than scrambled congealing in a container.
Evening meal in the hotel was a culinary experience; beautifully cooked and presented but the flavours did not always compliment each other. The wine, however, was good and was from a very local vineyard. The service was prompt and attentive, as it should have been with so few of us there!
The underground car park was very useful for keeping your vehicle cooled from the hot exterior, but you are warned about possible bird droppings from resident swallows!
There are lovely walks around the perimiter of the St. John's course and you'll be likely to find some kangaroos on your travels.
If you have the time and transport consider going to Marysville, if only to experience the drive through magnificent mountain ash forests. Awesome!!

The setting for the hotel in open park land and serviced by two golf courses is excellent but sadly the hotel lacked atmosphere. Although reception were helpful and pleasant the hotel seemed deserted. The dining room menu was limited and so we ordered a bar meal and were disappointed with the quality. The bar itself was empty and soulless. Breakfast menu in the Bella restaurant was more extensive although a little pretentious and the tea was cold. The room couldn't be faulted; it was large, clean and well appointed with a bath and separate shower unit. Underground parking helped to keep the car cool in the heat of January.

Thank you for choosing to stay with us on your recent visit to the Yarra Valley.

Our Executive Chef works extensively with local producers in the area to deliver menus across all areas of the business that utilise only the freshest of ingredients and are prepared from scratch by our kitchen team. I was disappointed to read that you found the menus limited, as we generally receive great feedback from our guests with regard to the food quality, presentation and use of ingredients.

I appreciate you taking the time to provide us with feedback of your stay and look forward to sharing this with my team.

We hope to see you again on your next getaway!

Wonderful hotel with a beautiful view and lovely staff. The food was amazing (a little expensive but worthy) and the room was very comfortable as well.

The hotel is in the middle of the golf court so it's impossible avoid the peaceful and silence of the place; absolutely beautiful. Btw driving to the hotel, inside the heritage we saw a cute kangaroo
