“A wonderful day trip that has something for everyone.”
Reviewed July 1, 2013 via mobile

I love the trip out on the catamaran and the peaceful relaxing day on the beach. There are some people trying to sell you their goods and ladies offering massages. The lunch was a simple one but it served its purpose. The speed boat ride on the return trip was fun. That being said, you should know the star fish pool they take you to... they are dead star fish and the moment you hold one that is alive, you will know those there were dead. I am sure they are planted there for the tourists.

“Great, great, great...”

Amazing place to spend one day. The sand, the view, the water, the colors.... We went with Capitan Gringo, which served Lobster, and took us to Canto de la Playa

“Beautiful island, lots of travel”
Reviewed June 29, 2013

Saona Island probably has one of the most beautiful beaches you will see while in the Dominican Republic. For this reason I think the excursion was worth the time it takes to get there and back. The bus ride was quite long (about 1 hour 30 mins each way) but Raymond our tour guide was excellent and provided plenty of information about the Dominican Republic as we traveled through the countryside. The catamaran ride to the island was lots of fun thanks to the crew who played great music and got lots of people dancing -- but if you wanted to relax you could also stretch out on the front of the boat. The stop in the lagoon was somewhat disappointing as you get the impression there will be seastars but in a large area we only found one, but it was still a beautiful spot and the water was quite warm.
The lunch on the island was good with grilled meats and a fair variety of side dishes. Lovely setting with a great view of the beach.
My one advice would be to take any opportunity to use bathrooms along the way as well as just before your leave, especially if you have kids! There is only 1 bathroom for 50+ people on the catamaran and no bathrooms on the bus.

“A must do”
Reviewed June 26, 2013

Beautiful day on the water. Half catameran and half speed boat. Spend an hour or so in a natural swimming pool in the ocean. You can pick up and see several star fish. (take goggles). Then they BBQ on the island where you can get a massage for a $40 full body.

“Excellent day”
Reviewed June 26, 2013

We booked through thomson and went on a Sunday.

Quick summary, We left after 7am and continued on coach to small port where we boarded a boat where we went snorkelling for around 40 minutes.then we continued to shallow waters and held star fish. We continued on to the island where lobster lunch was provided. Beautiful day so far. After lunch we had time on the island before we boarded a catamaran for a lovely sail back to port. Music and drinks provided. All in all a fantastic day which made our holiday even more enjoyable. Worth every penny. Must do!
