Eagle's Nest Bed and Breakfast Lodge
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed July 5, 2013

We have made the Eagle's Nest our annual anniversary getaway. The property is gorgeous, with green grass and tall pines just outside the door. We always stay in the Hallelujah Trail room, which is simply gorgeous with its well appointed and very comfortable bed, a clawfoot bathtub great for soaking, and beautiful pictures on the walls. Mark and Vicki always make the best breakfasts, and always accommodate our special dietary needs. Thanks for another memorable year!

Room Tip: The Hallelujah Trail room is at the south side of the building, which cuts down on road noise a litt...

The City of Big Bear is a breathtakingly gorgeous Eden nestled in the mountains and the Eagle's Nest is the perfect place to experience it from. A well made, clean, warmly run establishment. The food was amazing, the beds are cozy, each room has a unique personality and it is right in the center of everything you would want to experience. I can not recommend The Eagle's Nest enough, you could not ask for a better vantage point to take in the natural beauty of the region or more genuine and personable hosts. Thank you Mark and Vicki!

Mark and Vicki provide incredible hospitality. They really care and have included so many nice touches. Here are some of the little extras we liked. Small refrigerator stocked with water, soda for guests. Also snacks as well. Really nice after you've been active outside and you're not ready for a meal, just a light snack. Movie library. They also provided many recommendations for activities, things to see.

Breakfast: our expectations were high since this was a highly rated B&B. And the food exceeded our expectations. Everything was fantastic, and plenty (if not too much food).

Rooms: Our room was in the main building 2nd floor, toward the back. This is probably best as we did get some road noise. The windows seem to let a lot of noise in. Rooms are very quaint / cute and have nice decorations. Clawfoot tub was good too. One negative was we heard other guest and their TV and talking pretty easily, so was hard to get to sleep. Central heating worked great, we were never cold. One other improvement would be the mattress and pillows. They are worn out somewhat, not really bad, just, I would recommend new ones soon.

Price: The price was great, we checked a few others in Big Bear area and this was very reasonable, especially if you consider the cost of a nice breakfast if you went out for it at a regular hotel.

Location: Good location, easy drive to the Village or anywhere around the lake.

Overall, everything was very good. Only a few small things that could be improved upon. We certainly plan to visit again.

Room Tip: Rooms toward back of the main lodge. Or the separate cabin type units are farther from the main roa...

Having been fortunate to visit the Eagle's Nest on two prior occasions, I can attest to Mark & Vickie's hard work at continually upgrading the lodge and keeping it fresh. Each room is unique, making it hard to choose a favorite. The furnishings are remarkable. Clearly superior to the ordinary, they are combined with a decorator's flair to seamelssly create the consumate lodge experience of old-time Big Bear. Their breakfasts are delicious, being made with fresh ingredients combined with years of restaurant experience to tantalize the taste buds. Service is excellent and personal, making us feel right at home and catered-to. A definite repeat experience.

Thank you to Mark and Vikki, the wonderful owners who made our stay memorable.

My Boyfriend and I visited this B & B just after the Chris Dorner crisis on Big Bear Mountain; it was Valentines Day weekend. He had been taken care of at the time of our stay, but it still made for a burst or two of excitement. We stayed in the Annie Oakley room. The room was rustic, yet simultaneously modern. It's a log cabin, well heated and ventilated with a large jacuzzi tub next to a wood burning stone fireplace. Small piles of wood are provided each day, and duraflame logs can be purchased throughout the day from Mark and Vikki.

The area is near the village in Big Bear Lake, and we found plenty of restaurants and activities within a ten minutes drive. As emphasized by previous reviews, Vikki's homemade breakfasts are to die for. They ARE WORTH the 10$/person. EAT THERE EVERY MORNING. :) The breakfast nook is quaint as well; a homey living space with wooden tables and sofas with enough room to seat 15 - 20 comfortably.

The one complaint, as others have mentioned, was the noise level. We were unfortunate enough to have noisy neighbors; a family with children. (Why on earth one would bring their children to a one-bedroom B & B on Valentines Day is beyond me...) We heard our neighbors on both sides laughing and talking until 3:00 - 4:00 am. This was a minor discomfort during an otherwise memorable and pleasant excursion.

Room Tip: We enjoyed the Annie Oakley, but there are three cabins side by side. If quiet is absolutely necessa...

Wonderful get away. Only stayed one night and really wished I could stay longer. I booked this place because it appeared to be locally owned and operated and it was a great price. The room we stayed in was cozy, breakfast was delicious, and the owners went out of their way to make our stay unforgettable. I loved that they deliver coffee in the morning to your room. Can't wait to go back.

Vicky and Mark were the perfect host. Michela and I had a wonderful and peaceful weekend. The hand made breakfast is reallu good especially when you ear knocking on your door and once you open it a tray with two cups of hot chocolate with fluffy wippy cream on top is there waiting just for you. In one word, "Unforgettable" staying.
