Review of Diamond Lil's Saloon - CLOSED

Diamond Lil's Saloon
Cuisines: American
Description: I recently posted the following on Facebook. Love the new lakeside location. (It's where the Vintage used to be.) Good food and friendly and fun establishment. There's also a pool table to enjoy. Damon & Cindy are the owners and are very excited about their new location and have some great plans in the works. Looking forward to the Mill Creek Cattle Company coming soon. Their food is awesome. Damon shared with me his plans to maximize the lakeside frontage. I predict that Diamond Lils Saloon and Mill Creek Cattle Creek Cattle Company will soon be one of the best places to go in Big Bear Lake. With the lake as a backdrop, it will also become a popular spot for weddings and parties. Oh, and did I mention that they have the longest happy hour on the mountain ~ 11am to 7pm, 7 days a week. Come by and check it out! Wait....there's more. Kareoke, DJ and live music.

We only had appetizers and drinks. It seemed ok, but for its location on a Friday night, should have been busier. I am alwayse surprised that these places on the water don't step it up a notch and build a great deck at the water. Seems a waste of a great view when the outdoors is mediocre.

We were here on a Saturday nite for drinks, we sat on the patio which overlooks the lake. Drinks were good, service was good and we were told by the waitress to come back for breakfast they have unlimited champagne for additional $5. We went back for breakfast, food was ok, but what can you really do with eggs? She was generous with the champagne and OJ, it was enjoyable after breakfast we went outside to finish our last drink and look at the lake, the only downside, get rid of the outhouses...destroy's the view

My wife and I are full-time residents of Big Bear Lake and we like to try out the different restaurants in the Big Bear Valley. This restaurant is without a doubt the WORST restaurant in the Big Bear Valley. The sauteed mushrooms were cold, rubbery, and greasy with no flavor. The Bleu Cheese dressing for the salad was a watery mix that didn't taste like Bleu Cheese (nor anything else we could identify). It took over one hour to get our entrees with no attention from the wait staff while we waited. We did try to ask about our meals once but the woman we spoke to stated she was just the Hostess and couldn't help us. We couldn't even get the manager when we asked for them. When the food did show up it was not prepared as ordered. (The steak was not even close to the level ordered and the mashed potatos had a large amount of a cold, sweet gravy all over them that would best be described as an Elmer's Glue gravy.) The waitress practically ran from our table stating over her shoulder she would be back and she never did come back. After waiting for another half hour, we flagged down the hostess again to again tell her we were very unhappy. (There were other parties that also had to wait for an hour for their food that were also unhappy.) When the waitress finally did come back to our table (at the urging of the hostess), she seemed surprised we were not happy with our meals. It took another 20 -25 minutes to get our check as we decided to leave and not eat the substandard meals they gave us. We never could talk to a manager and there was no offer to discount our meal. We took the food home and fed it to our dogs however, they wouldn't even eat the food. The ONLY positive of this location is that it looks over Big Bear Lake however, that is not sufficient reason to patronize this restaurant. I strongly urge anyone considering going to this place to stay away!

A nice local watering hole right on the water. The drink prices are reasonable but the place gets crowded. To ensure you are served sit at the bar. We have only had appetizers but the main dinner menu looks amazing. Great people!

We went to the visitors center and asked where they would suggest going for dinner and they gave us a few suggestions and then suggested Diamond Lil's Saloon. What a great find! Diamond lil's use to be near the Big Bear Airport but it has moved to the village and right on next to the lake. What a great view and so relaxing! We decided to sit outside on the patio and had a great view of the lake! Not only was the view great but the food was really good too! We got the appetizer platter and sandwiches. They were very good! I look forward to visiting Diamond Lil's Saloon next time we visit. it is off the beatten path and you have to really be looking to find it because it is at the end of a small street behind a lodge but worth the extra work to find it.
