My family has been going to Robin Hood resort for over 20 years. Robin Hood resort not only offers a variety of hotel accommodations from high end lake view suites to economy rooms and even cabin and condo rentals. These folks have it all.
We go up at least twice a year minimum once in October to celebrate Oktobetfest and once in March to celebrate birthdays and ski.
We usually stay at the main resort in October. The rooms are very roomy, many have fire places and some even come with hot tubs in the room! Peter is usually at the front desk and treats you like family. You can get DVDs to take back to your room or sit by the cozy fireplace in the lobby. Hot coffee, tea and cocoa are usually available during the fall and winter time.
On the property is a great restaurant and bar Sherwood Forest The food is delicious and you get a discount if you're a guest at the property.
The main resort is located at the heart of Big Bear village and is walking distance to all the great restaurants, movie theater and bars if you're into nightlife. Snow Summit and Bear Mountain area just a few miles away.
They also offer cabin rentals and they don't skimp on location. We also stay at the chalet located at the base of snow summit. The cabin is three bedrooms two bathroom with indoor hot tub and laundry on site. You cannot beat the location. Keep in mind, the resort has been around a long time the rooms are cozy and maybe a little dated but for the value and great service it's quaint charm is priceless.
My husband and I have written and published eleven hiking guides and have included them on our list of recommended places to stay while in Big Bear. You won't be disappointed.

The management and employees were very nice and accommodating! Great location!
The only thing that they could improve would be their pillows. Bring your own! But I will definitely stay again. Awesome hotel!

This was our first stay at this hotel after going to Big Bear twice a year for the past 4 years. I've seen mixed reviews before, but was pleasantly surprised by our stay. We were in town for the Tour de Big Bear. Check-in was a breeze and we were surprised at how nice the room was for the price considering this isn't a chain hotel. The location is great, since you're in the heart of the village. Lots of great places to eat withing walking distance. The best thing about our stay was the staff. Very friendly and we needed a later check out...they were very accommodating. The room was clean and bed wasn't perfect, but on par with many chain hotels. Wifi reception was OK in our area, but overall speed was good. The staff let us know in advance and were willing to move us if needed, Overall, a very nice hotel at Big Bear...probably one of the best we've had!

Room Tip: Check with staff on Wifi coverage by room.

I stayed in the Wishing Well section and I thought it was perfectly fine. Very clean, quiet with a fridge and coffee maker. It is a bit outdated, but the rate for the location is very reasonable. The front desk person, John was very friendly and let us pick from several rooms. Would stay there again for sure.

Room Tip: We were on an end room.

PROS: Location is great (just near the dock and walkable to most attractions near the lake)
CONS: Booked a room at Robinhood Resort and instead got a room in the Wishing Well resort (I think it's an old resort Robinhood Resort owns now, but rooms there are tiny and dirty); rooms are way overpriced for an old motel type room and parking is a pain.

I booked at Robinhood Resort and instead they give you a room at the rundown Wishing Well; next time I'll go somewhere else to stay and won't recommend them to anyone. Although the location is great, the rooms are trashy.

Room Tip: If you get a room in the Robinhood Resort, that's good, but avoid Wishing Well at all costs (call to make sure where your room will be).
