“Unique and amazing”
Reviewed March 1, 2013

It's not for those who might be sketched out by things 'off the beaten path'. Interior is kinda not the cleanest looking so and there didnt seam to be running water in the WC but the chef/owner is very nice and the food is nuts. Half chicken with creole sauce and lemon butter shrimp with conch fritters made the journey there the most memorable dinner of the trip. Getting there is tough. The concierge at the hotel wasnt sure it still existed. Taking the cab there was harrowing. The driveway is a traffic accident waiting to happen on the side of a large hill. But sitting on the porch and watching the INSANE traffic on a NUTSO switchback was fun. Dinner was quick too. There was also a building next door that appeared to be an open air bar with a couple xmas lights on, no people at all and music blasting! It made for a nice background soundtrack to a really unique St. Martin experience. One of a kind and not at all touristy.

“the best creole on the island”
Reviewed February 12, 2013

My girlfriend and I came here for dinner during our trip to St Martin and we were not disappointed. A co-worker told me about the place. This restaurant is also a favorite of part-time resident, Anthony Bourdain.

The place is a bit difficult to find..the restaurant is actually the owner's home, Tony. On the main road going towards Orient Beach from Phillipsburg. As you're going up the hill in the Quarter of Orleans section right before you take a sharp left turn you'll see a sign "Poulet d'Orleans" which is right before the church. Go up the drive way and you'll pull right into the parking lot.

We ordered three entrees - the chicken, the pot fish and ribs galore. We didn't finish the ribs but dang they were good! All three items were so so good. Everything is fresh. We wanted to try everything on the menu which is written on a white board depending on what Tony purchased that day from the market. Entree items were about $15-20 per plate and come with rice and beans which were just as amazing.

I need to find a creole place here in NYC.

“Excellent Dinner”
Reviewed January 15, 2013

Best Conch I have ever had.. Dining is on the porch of an old house. Do yourself a favor stop in. It is the best value in St, Martin. We had six excellent dinners and two bottles of wines for under $160.00 including tip.

“Local Cuisine at it's Best”
Reviewed September 5, 2012

This unpretentious little place is well known and well regarded to those familiar with the dining scene in SXM, and why it has not garnered more attention from TA travelers is quite a mystery. I guess you could refer to chef/owner Tony's preparations as Caribbean comfort food, but they are just so superbly done, that description doesn't really do it justice. Also, while you will dine outside on the front porch of the home, be sure to venture inside to see the lovely interior as well.

“Worth the trip for some true island cuisine”
Reviewed February 1, 2012

After watching a rerun of Tony Bourdain's old show, A Cook's Tour, focused on St. Martin's off-the-beaten-path local restaurants, I knew a detour to Poulet D'Orleans had to be on the agenda. I was not disappointed. Situated on a hill in Orleans above one of St. Martin's classic switchbacks, Poulet D'Orleans is located in an old creole manse that overlooks the main road. My wife and I had the balcony to ourselves, though with food this good, I have no idea why.

We started with some delicious mushrooms stuffed with local crab and breadcrumbs. Then, we each had a different chicken preparation, mine with island peanut sauce and my wife's with the local creole sauce. Both were served with an assortment of roasted/grilled/stewed vegetables as well as rice, beans, and potatoes. The chicken is sourced from a local farm, so it has way more flavor than your local supermarket/restaurant bird, yet the chef is still able to keep it deliciously tender.

Service from the chef/owener was charming, prices were very reasonable (1 dollar=1 euro exchange rate), atmosphere was nice and the food was excellent. What more could you ask for? Highly recommended to those looking to escape overpriced French food (even for a night), and to try some elegantly done local cuisine.
