Owner description: At the Butterfly Farm you will be escorted by your guide who will lead you through a specially created exhibition area of landscaped gardens. This is the butterflies own lush tropical garden playground! Here you will see hundreds of rare and exotic butterflies fluttering freely around you. The guide will identify different species, point out courtship and mating displays and tell butterfly facts and stories. You can also witness the various stages of the butterfly's life cycle, from butterflies laying their eggs to caterpillars hatching, growing and forming their chrysalis. Ask your guide how to handle the butterflies and caterpillars if you dare! The tour lasts around 15 minutes and you are welcome to stay as long as you like at leisure in the gardens. There is also an extensive selection of butterfly gifts and souvenirs in the shop, or drinks available in the shady cafe. Car parking and rest rooms on site free of charge.

We were staying in St Martin for a week, in the south, so this was a trek, but well worth it.

We visited in the morning and the butterflies were all over the place, I think next time I would go in the afternoon as I do like to take a photo or two.

The talk, first by Will, the owner was very funny/dry/witty and full of sound eco advice, very informative. We then tagged along on the second talk...by Will's daughter...and she is of the same mould. I think it was $13-5 to get in, and if you go at the beginning of your stay you can go back for another visit. and it included a drink. Its good to support these guys, and see something you wouldnt at home.

Highly recommended.

This was our second visit to the Butterfly Farm. It is a beautiful spot on the French side of the island. The farm is open from 9 - 3, and is usually not too busy in the morning hours. The admission fee gives you unlimited time to explore the farm, have a guided tour, and return as many times as you like during your stay on the island. Our guide gave us a half hour tour of the farm and taught us many interesting facts about all different species of butterflies. They have beautiful gardens and plants that the butterflies and caterpillars need for survival. There are "nurseries" for the eggs and cocoons. While we were there, the guide spotted a pair of butterflies mating, and also pointed out a female butterfly in the act of laying eggs. The butterflies are flying all around you and it is a magical experience. Don't miss it!

We visited the Butterfly Farm as part of a shore excursion with the cruise line. We (family of 4 including 2 boys 5 & 7) loved it! Our guide was informative and friendly and showed us a variety of lovely creatures. The butterflies were beautiful and flying everywhere. My kids got the chance to play with some caterpillars and hold a huge and amazing moth. Fun and educational experience.

Having been to quite a few butterfly farms over the years, I expected just a peaceful walk amongst flora and insects. Our tour group was greeted by Tomas, who gave us a brief primer on all things butterflies from larva to flutter. They have a beautiful setting for the butterflies, and the variety is astounding. We had several land on us, and it was so interesting to see the many stages of a butterfly life. This organization is deeply committed to conservation and education, so by visiting you are supporting a worldwide movement in conservation as well.

This experience is a unique and close look at what most people take for granted, when we see a Butterfly or a Moth. The care, effort and dedication that is put into this location is amazing. At first ,doesn't look like much..All this changes when you enter the Butterfly arena and see some amazing ,colorful and variety of species from all over the world.A short but informative presentation is given on the eating preferences and reproduction process of these insects. What "each" species has for a life spand to their locations found.
They do handle groups.Would be a good time for kids as well. They suggest arriving in a.m hrs.to see some hatching into their (butterfly) life.Located in the Orient Bay Area.Short distance off the main road.A short ride from Grand Case. You can get some great photos..
