Owner description: PLEASE NOTE!!! THE BUTTERFLY FARM IN ST MARTIN IS CURRENTLY CLOSED DUE TO HURRICANE IRMA!! At the Butterfly Farm you will be escorted by your guide who will lead you through a specially created exhibition area of landscaped gardens. This is the butterflies own lush tropical garden playground! Here you will see hundreds of rare and exotic butterflies fluttering freely around you. The guide will identify different species, point out courtship and mating displays and tell butterfly facts and stories. You can also witness the various stages of the butterfly's life cycle, from butterflies laying their eggs to caterpillars hatching, growing and forming their chrysalis. Ask your guide how to handle the butterflies and caterpillars if you dare! The tour lasts around 15 minutes and you are welcome to stay as long as you like at leisure in the gardens. There is also an extensive selection of butterfly gifts and souvenirs in the shop, or drinks available in the shady cafe.
Useful Information: Bathroom facilities, Wheelchair access

I've been to a butterfly farm in Ft. Lauderdale. This one is perhaps smaller but equally as nice. Lots and lots of butterflies, caterpillars, and pupae. Entrance is something like $15 but lasts the duration of your trip. I can't see going multiple times, so the fee is a bit steep but it's a nice attraction when you need time away from the beach and out of the water. It's also on the way to Galion Beach. So you can stop at the Butterfly Farm first and continue onto Galion.

We arrived in port for one day on a recent cruise and decided to head to the Butterfly Garden. We were traveling with my Mom, who is in a wheelchair, and two children (2 and 4), so we thought this would be a fun activity for all. We took a cab from the port ($6 pp) and arrived there around 10 AM. It is a great excursion for all ages and we really enjoyed ourselves. The butterflies were out in full force and it was amazing to stand there and watch them flutter by. The tour guide was informative and friendly and we learned a great deal that day. It was actually quite impressive to see the whole life cycle in real life. You learn about it in school...but to actually be able to flip over a leaf and see eggs there, or to see the new caterpillars lined up on the vein of a leaf....it was a fun experience. We saw all sorts of butterflies and enjoyed a relaxing visit. I would say that unless you're an avid photographer and want to spend hours there, it will probably take you only 1 to 2 hours maximum to enjoy, so I would pair it with another activity for a full day. The price was a bit steep (even with a cruise visitor "discount"). It was $72 for 5 adults and 1 child. However, the place is beautiful and if that was our contribution to keep it going, then so be it! They also included a cup of rum punch for the adults or plain punch for the children. There's a small gift shop with butterfly themed items for purchase. I agree with another reviewer...don't use this as a rainy day activity. They all hide when rain comes. When we first got there, there was lots of sun and the butterflies were all around. By the end of our visit, a rain cloud passed by and once it got cloudy, they were nowhere to be found! That was cool to see too! Definitely go if you get a chance.

We arrive early morning because the butterflies are more energetic and they were all over even landing on me I wore pink . The owners and there daughter run the business and a really good friend of the family gave us a tour. We learned alot more and he was funny. You really have to look everywhere there is alot to see and not much walking for some one who has trouble and at the end they say come back for free while your her and sign your slip. We also got a few gifts and a free refreshment .

I love the butterfly farm. So peaceful...love to sit and let the butterflies surround me. More fun to walk around with the camera and trying to get some awesome photos.

What a fun day we all took part in the zip lines the older kids (60 - 22) did the larger zips and the rest of us (50 - 9) did the obstacle zips what a blast and a workout. Our guide on the obstacle zip sure made our day great he assisted my grandson (who is fearless) cruise through the course with ease so appreciated his help to make this event a highlight of our trip.
