Situated about five miles outside of Metz, you will need a car to get to Les Jardins Fruitiers but it will be entirely worth it. It's tourist-friendly; I was offered pamphlets printed in English.
These gardens are arranged thematically. There is a hedge maze and a children's playground, gardens for the five senses, toxic and poisonous plants (those are clearly labeled, and some are even caged off like dangerous beasts so don't worry about accidents), fruits gardens that supply the in-house restaurant with fresh produce, and some very beautiful sculptures. There are also miniature displays of gardens from the various districts in the area, which makes for good photography pieces.
It's an absolute treasure for gardeners or nature lovers, suitable for families and also a very romantic spot for couples.
