The White House has a great reputation for quality restaurant meals and pub grub. It is regularly busy, but due to its large seated areas there is usually somewhere to sit, as well as 2 large bars with plenty of interesting beers and good wine menu. Due to its location on Blackstone Edge it also attract plenty of walkers, ramblers and other outdoors types; as well as a host of regular, young and old. This location also gives great views of the valley below with Littleborough, Rochdale and Manchester easily viewable on a good day.
The menu is split between a good pub food menu and a specials board. There is no mistaking the freshness of the food as all orders are placed at the kitchen. There is always a wide variety of meats, fish and vegetarian dishes.
There is a large number of youthful staff at the White House, but that does not mean poor service. On our visit we were served by Andrew, who was polite and regularly checked everything was ok with our food and drinks. Despite the excellent specials board we both went for the menu (Chilli, Chicken Korma) and enjoyed it thoroughly.
We found it difficult to rush away from such a welcoming and friendly location, especially due to the large open fireplace. Recommended.
