This resort offered in my opinion the best value for money first class luxury I've had anywhere in the world. What sets it apart from other fantastic resorts is the genuine hospitality and customer service.

We stayed in the ocean wing and the room and view were excellent. From the pre-arrival admin and correspondence, arrival at the reception, room servicing, until our departure we were treated like royalty. We simply cannot complement the staff enough on their professionalism and warmth.

We ate at almost all of the restaurants on the property with the coast restaurant impressing us most for breakfast and dinner. The room service menu was also better than anything I've ever eaten in the sit-in restaurants of other hotels. The Orangutans were also a wonderful on-site experience. We will definately be coming back!

We stayed at this hotel in November to celebrate my 30th birthday and I couldn't have picked a nicer place. I can't understand the reviews faulting this hotel, makes me wonder if they are genuine...

From the moment we got there, friendly staff that brought our paperwork and drinks to where we were seated made check in stress free, the spotless, spacious modern room we were shown to with a sea view, the numerous different restaurants all of very high standard and the staff, that simply can't do enough for you.

If you get chance go for the half board option otherwise it can work out quite expensive. The happy hours are great too especially at the sampan bar on the beach whilst watching the sunset.

This hotel is remote but the surroundings are amazing and you don't need anything else, can't wait to go back.

We stayed interrupted by an excursion to Danum Valley reserve in both wings- the Garden and then the Ocean Wing.
Alltogether- this is an extremely beautiful and pleasant holiday resort.
Located at a secluded large bay, the buildings have been constructed with good taste- so the size of 6-storey-buildings is not downgrading the holiday feeling. Also the very well-kept grounds help as they are widespread. It was X-mas time, very full, and yet you never had the feeling of being in a crowd. Always we could find free loungers and space in the pools.
The greatest asset is the staff: very, very kind and always helpful and smiling very well-trained and of natural friendliness.
When something goes wrong- and operating at full capacity, it does happen-, they always do their best to correct, ask for excuse, offer compensation.
The resort offers plenty of activities for adults and children- book well ahead.
The beach is sandy and with very few people on it- can be used for long walks, but not for swimming, as there are many jellyfish.
Rooms in the Garden Wing are of good size , quite new, pleasant colours. By a split-level concept there is a nice sofa towards the exit to the balcony. Bed is good, same is true for the bath room.
Very intelligent is the concept, that they give you an empty fridge-minibar- you yourself are giong to stock on beverages that you will buy in the shop.
Rooms in the Ocean Wing are very big, the bathroom is very big with 2 sinks, walk-in shower and toilet both separate. The huge room has a full dining table for in-room dining with chairs.
The Terrasse is enormous- a big tub, a huge double lounger, ceiling fan.
A room in the Ocean Wing gives you the privilege to have breakfast in the separated AC-restaurant Costa (buffet style or a la carte) and to use the separate rectangular big pool of this wing. The ambience is very quiet and serene at whole Ocean Wing- Garden Wing is more lively, and a bit less elegant.
When you are staying in the garden wing, breakfast is by buffet in the coffe shop of the main building. In the coffeshop you can dine all day, in the evening buffet or a la carte. Food there is good and of good variety. We recommen to select a room with ocean view- really beautiful.
Very good is the indian restaurant. In the japanese restaurant (Teppanyaki tables) everything is good except meat which is a bit on the hard and dry side.
The bar in the main bulding is lovely, as well as the Internet Cafe- they serve there excellent ILLY-Cappucinos and small pastries.
We joined the nature reserve feeding of young Orang-Utans, very nice. Afterwards we continued with the canopy walk, also impressive and well-done.
Let us repeat that there is always enough space, always friendliness around creating a very relaxing holiday ambience.
Only let-down is the garden pavilion restaurant called Tepi Laut. Last year we enjoined a similar installatiion with the name "coco Joe's" in the sister resort Tanjung Aru and it was so good. Unfortunately here Tepi Laut was serving overly small portions with no taste, and service was lackluster, after 3 visits we stopped visiting.
We did not try out the fine-dining resto "Costa" in the evening.
The resort is very, very child-friendly. More than half of the guests are Asians, and the children are quite disciplined- plus a very effective management, you never encounter any problems of excessive noise or other problems.
W-LAN is free of charge, but at certain hours not available, as capacity of transmission is fully taken.
The resort is a 45 minutes drive from the airport or from town. Kota Kinabalu is not really attractive. The resort offers a shuttle to town continuing to the sister resort Tanjung Aru.
Shuttle and nature activities have to be booked well in advance.
Did not use the spa nor the golf course.
Overall- very recommended for a relaxing holiday.

Very nice hotel, superb golf course, generally nice attentive service and good food.
The beach is beautiful but I got stung by a jelly fish and that was really painful! So do be careful when swimming in the ocean. Their tennis court wasn't maintained very well. Generally good palce to go with the kids.

We recently spent 2 weeks at this resort over Christmas and can i say wow what an experience from start to finish of this holiday at the Rasa Ria Resort.

The golf course was terrific with Mt Kota Kinabalu in the back ground, so serene. The dive centre affiliated with the resort was great experience being an experienced diver.

The staff throughout the resort were so helpful and obliging, quick with service too.

The resort and room was very clean and tidy, food was fanastic and exceptional quality.... Sunsets on your balcony, the camera shot doesnt do it justice.

The rehabilitation centre for the young Orang-utans was a bonus, to watch these simple peaceful animals enjoy their terrain and home while maturing was a wonderful experience.

This resort offers many things for all, whether it be for a couple, friends and family.

Dont hestitate folks... Book it! Its worth it.

Room Tip: room 444: fabulous views over grounds of resort and beach, 4th floor up, plenty to see ;)
