I stayed here with a friend who was competiting in an event in Pattaya city, so the event negotiated rooms at this location. I heard that this hotel only caters to groups and conventions.
When I first arrived, I didn't realize that there were registration desks at each tower. I was dropped off at the main Ocean Wing and not one person at the desk spoke English, nor did they understand what I was saying. I managed to ask for my friend's room and gave them my passport and somehow made my way to the Tower Wing where I again had to register. They called my friend's room so that she can meet me downstairs, when I simply asked for a second key, but they didn't have one to give me. Apparently, it's only 1 key per room. When my friend came down, she handed me a note that she left at the front desk to give me upon my arrival. Again, miscommunication and the note was sent upstairs and slipped under the door.
The lobby smells of old sandal wood, which I typcally encounter in humid countries. The floor that our room was it smelled of mildew and the room smelled even worse. When I walked in, the A/C was cranked up just to keep the air circulating. The bathroom was dirty and black mildew on the grout everywhere, especially in the shower. I didn't keep anything in the bathroom. I opted not to unpack any of my clothes because I didn't want them to smell, even hanging in the closet. Towels in the room had stains and when we requested for new clean towels, we were greeted by young staff who couldn't understand "towel" and kept repeating "shower." My bed had a large foot print in it when the covers were pulled and immediatly called Housekeeping to change the bedding. Come to find, they all clean the rooms barefooted. I wonder where the footprint came from? There was only 1 pillow per bed and was so firm that it made my neck hurt when I slept. I had no choice to but to just get over it in order to get a decent night's sleep.
We managed to stay in this place for 7 nights because it was already pre-paid. The only highlight was the daily American/Asian breakfast. The amenities outside of the hotel itself was better. The large circle pool seemed dirty, but the Beach and Ocean Wing pool were much better and swimmable.
Because we traveled in a group of 30, dinner was impossible. For a place that only catered to groups, their restaurants surely weren't prepared with staff. Not only could we not communicate, but it was frustrating when trying to ask where our food was. We ate in the Chinese restaurant on my first night there and we waited nearly 45 minutes for all of us to get our food. The other large group began to get up from their tables looking for their own silverware. We simply started eating dish by dish because the food began to get cold. It took nearly another 4 just to get luke warm coffee at the Atrium Cafe that was open 24 hours. When we had another group dinner later that week, the Atrium Cafe was empty. While we waited for our dinner for nearly an hour, I can't tell you how many small parties get seated and walk out because they didn't even get their orders taken.
On our last day, we began to just put all of our things back in the suitcases and we couldn't get out of there fast enough. When documents were retrieved from our bags, we found them damp from the conditions in the room. Though we have was we thought was "A/C," there was no dehumidifier. Even if I didn't unpack my clothes, they still stunk of mildew and had to wash immediately.
If you have a choice, I would highly suggest you choose any other place. It's just not worth not being able to enjoy your accommodations when you're on vacation.
