Note - This review is for Lodge 20.
What can I say? Timber Hill far exceeded my expectations in every way. The cost of a week here in peak season, for what you're getting, is very, very reasonable.
Timber Hill is set back away from the summer hustle and bustle of Broad Haven beach and has a lovely leafy walk down to it which takes 20-30 mins (small children may take longer). Having said that it's only a short drive in the car and Broad Haven has a large car park. I didn't have a problem parking all week.
The lodges initially seem to be quite close together, but we had no issues with privacy or noise. Inside they are comfortable, dry and well appointed. We've just moved into a 'doer-upper' so it really did feel like a break. There were even some wetsuits for the kids hanging up inside the airing cupboard.
It was lovely to sit out on the balcony of an evening and watch the birds and bats. We saw a good few species of bird, like tree creepers and nuthatches, that are fairly uncommon where we live. There was even a bird guide on the bookshelf.
The only down side (not for me particularly as I wanted to get away from work) was the lack of Wi Fi. 3 and 4G however were available all the time (Virgin and O2).
Definitely going back next year.
The cabin is set in stunning surroundings,a lovely dog friendly beach nearby & supermarket within easy reach. There are many lovely places to visit in the area.I think this is our family's fourth visit.
Lovely setting and very well equipped lodge.
Beautiful beaches snd accessible walks from timber hill site.
Our stay was for 1 week and we wish to stay longer!!! Me and my wife are passionate about nature so the location of the lodge was excellent: 3 minutes walk to the woodland with stream, 20 minutes walk to the cliffs and 25 minutes to the beach (through the woodland).
The lodge is in good distance from others to keep privacy (having said that we booked our stay before school holiday so not sure how is there in holiday season). The lodge was comfortable with character and we really loved massive window and the view especially when we get morning coffee. The lodge is a little bit 'outdated' comparing to modern buildings but to be honest we didn't bother and on the end it was rather advantage than disadvantage. In the lodge is everything you need for short and long stay.
Before we arrived we communicated couple of times with Graham and he replied very promptly.
We definitely want back next year!
Lovely wooden lodge, well equipped with everything we needed. Slept 4 adults comfortably, and living area was well suited for 4 people. The surroundings were beautiful and peaceful - the perfect relaxing retreat from the city we live in! The place was easy to find, and had plenty of parking. Owner was very welcoming and happy to help with any queries we had.
There was a lovely walk to the coast and beach, and there is lots to do on your doorstep (We went to Oakwood theme park and went coasteering, both 30 minutes drive).
Would recommend this place, and will keep it in mind for the future.
