Having driven past on a number of occasions we thought we would call in and see what it was like. The restaurant was empty when we arrived and we were told that they don't start serving meals until 6.00 so we would have a 30-minute wait as we arrived a little before 5.30. The restaurant looked very nice however we were put off by the strong smells emanating from the toilets which also wafted into the bar area. We ordered two drinks, pricy for a glass of wine and a shandy at a fraction under £10, and sat in their other room (probably the old public bar). This consisted of tired worn out furniture that looked dirty and uncared for and needed replacing, not one of the wall lampshades matched and the whole room was very tatty, it was not very comfortable.
We left without eating so I cannot say what the food was like but the menu looked comprehensive with some nice dishes but we were put off by the shabby appearance and the smell from toilets.
On checking the Bedfordshire Scores on the door I was glad we had not stayed as it only scored a 2 star rating and was rated poor on cleanliness and hygiene.
Disappointing as it has some good reviews on Trip Advisor and looks nice from the outside
