We also serve traditional Sunday roasts plus we have a live vocalist every Friday evening from 8pm. We cater for all occasions and dietary requirements. Husband took me here for valentines. I was really impressed by everything. The owner greeted us at the door and took us to our table. He recommended wine and food too which was fab. The food was very very good. There was live entertainment too. Service great and not much wait between courses. Would recommend this place.

Having recently moved to nearby Rugeley we have visited the Plum Pudding as it is within walking distance.

The restaurant is friendly and welcoming. It doesn't seat vast numbers but that adds to its character. Staff are very helpful in menu choices and generally friendly and polite.

We visited twice during 2013 the first being with my mom and sister, a first for them but as lovers of Italian food we all enjoyed it. Food was cooked fresh and so tasty.

The second visit was just myself and my husband and we attended a "themed" evening. It was a lot busier but service remained high on arrival with welcome drinks and canapes absolutely gorgeous.

As before food remained at the high standard and very tasty. The only downside was as the meal progressed the delay between courses got longer and longer. So much so we were waiting over 20 minutes for a coffee before leaving for home. We actually walked out before coffees arrived because although we had paid for them we felt we could have ones at home more quickly !

Lovely restaurant but maybe not ideal for large numbers ? We will try again in the New Year as it may have been a one off.

Thank Absfab

I live not far from this restaurant and visited and eaten here a few times. I have never been disappointed with the service or the food. The staff are very welcoming and cheerful which I find a rarity these days. If ever you require help with choosing your meal or wine, Giuseppe is always on hand to help you. This rustic Italian restaurant is a gem and a credit to the area whether it's for a meal with friends or for a glass of wine to relax next to the water way.
Well done and keep up the good work!

Looked at this place on TA and reviews seemed generally positive. We were greeted by a very helpful waitress, who couldn't do more to help. Food order was taken in a reasonable time. However it soon became clear she was the only person front of house, so was taking orders bringing out food, clearing dishes, taking and dealing with drinks orders etc. Again she tried really hard and was helpful and apologetic throughout? The food arrived within a reasonable time. The dishes were for most between £11-13 which was on the higher side for the type of place and quality of food.
Only other issue is that for 7 people only one dish each of veg and potatoes came out. The waitress did say we could get more, but due to her being very busy we made do with what we had, we would probably asked for me if more staff were available.

my wife and i decided to go for a meal, as a treat. so a child minder was organised and we decided on the plum pudding as our venue. although we live local to the restaurant we have never used it , always preferring to travel a bit further a field. i had the squid rings whilst my wife had the mussels. we both enjoyed the starters but was unsure what to have for our mains. Giuseppe, the restaurant owner and chef suggested a dish that was not on the menu . this was butterfly chicken layered with asparagus and mozzarella cheese, wrapped in cured ham and then seasoned , this was then grilled and served with veg sauteed potatoes and a diced mixed meat with peppers an mushrooms ( a dish from his village in italy. sorry to the chef if my description is not 100% correct ). this was without doubt one of the nicest meals ever , we both thoroughly enjoyed it , the service was excellent and at less than £40 for the 2 meals we found it great value for money. i would suggest that giuseppe add this meal to his menu or any people reading this review to ask him in advance to prepare it for them.
great night and a big thank you to all at the plum pudding
