Description: The White Horse in Boughton is a historic pub restaurant with more than its fair share to offer guests. Not only is this ancient coaching inn mentioned in Chaucer's Canterbury Tales, but its location in a glorious village surrounded by hop field lined walks to Mount Ephraim Gardens and the site of The Peasant's Last Revolt recommend this excellent stop before one even ventures inside. As you may well hope, The White Horse is beautifully traditional inside, with roaring log fires, low-beamed ceilings and a cosy, intimate feel. Meanwhile, outside beautiful landscaping has turned a pleasant pub garden in to an Englishmans dream. Locally renowned chefs are creating quite a stir in the kitchen with locally sourced food which has elevated The White Horse to gastropub levels, providing guests with the opportunity to enjoy high level food in the most comfortable of atmospheres. Sunday roasts take place weekly and occasionally the restaurant hosts live music events.

I visited this pub with friends and had high expectations . It’s a lovely old building but the food is very average . We were over charged and had to point it on in paying the bill and they did eventually apologise . The waitress who served us was obviously having a bad day and didn’t we know it ! They are so many better places to eat Sunday lunch .

I was really very disappointed by the service in this establishment. We had to wait well over an hour for our main course to arrive. At no time did any staff enquire if everything was to our satisfaction. The food itself was nothing out of the ordinary.

We were disappointed today, it was not a good experience. The food arrived after one and a half hours, it was not tasty and the dessert took another very long time to come.
The waitresses were busy and hardly payed any attention to us. One of them chucked the sausage stuffing balls on to our plates like a basketball!!
I know it was Mother s day so it was very busy, but this does not justify poor service and expensive price.
We used to like this restaurant but unlikely to come back....

6 of us went to celebrate someone’s birthday . The staff were welcoming and friendly.the food was really gd we couldn’t fault it . I had Beef Bourguignon oh my my the beef just melted in your mouth , it came with mash that was really gd gotta say as mash goes it was up there with some of the best Iv tried and the veg were nice cooked .i had the prawn and crayfish cocktail to start that was plentiful. I tried a bit of the steak and the belly pork that some of the others had and again it was really gd . We all said that we would go there again The restaurant was cosy you had your table for as long as you wanted ,the staff weren’t in your face asking if we wanted this or that they left us just to get on with out meal ,but they were there if we wanted anything.i took in a birthday cake which at the end of meal one of the staff bought out lit with candles and she and the other guest having a meal there all joined in with singing happy birthday , which was really nice , all in all the whole eve went brilliantly, I would totally recommend this little gem . So get your fingers working and go book table .Enjoy .
