The Linen Shed
Reviewed October 4, 2011

We found The Linen Shed on Sawdays Special Places to Stay, and it was an absolutely enchanting experience. Vicki and Graham have created a wonderful haven, and it's an absolute joy to stay with them. Vicki cooks the most amazing breakfasts, and has the best tips on where to eat - but do book in advance. We dined at The Dove at Dargate, and on Sunday walked from Boughton under Blean to The Sportsman at Seasalter - an 8 mile walk, but the most rewarding meal at a Michelen Star Pub.... AMAZING!

The moment we saw it we knew it was going to be different and special, each room has its own uniqueness. Vickie & Graham made you feel part of the family and the breakfast was to die for and combined with having it on the rear terrace. A place to relax with no pressure to leave.

Room Tip: We had the French room which is large & airy

This was a winner from the second we booked. Vickie's confirmation email gave some great recommendations of places to eat and even arranged a taxi on the first night. An offer to pick us up from the station gives an indication of how friendly both Graham and Vickie both are. The house is stunning and the food incredible, I could eat their breakfasts all day! A glass of wine on the veranda and a chance to chat to other guests make this a superb way to explore the local area and is ideally located to reach Whitsable. A big hug from Vickie when we departed really made it feel like a family visit. It's stepped entrance may make it slightly tricky for anyone with mobility issues and a lack of doorlocks made for an amusing situation at one point, but these are tiny points in what was a wonderful find. Only three bedrooms, so book early!

Room Tip: Book early!

The Linen Shed has to rate amongst one of the best B&Bs we have stayed at. Firstly the village of Boughton-under-Blean is very pretty and has great access to main roads. The house is light and airy, and beautifully furnished with vintage French-style finds and supremely comfortable beds. Our hosts, Vickie and Graham were utterly charming, friendly and a delight to meet.

We stayed for 2 nights, visiting this part of the country for the first time and on both mornings enjoyed breakfast outside on the terrace, overlooking the pretty garden. And what fantastic breakfasts they were! Vickie is a fabulous cook and the produce she serves is top quality. After eating everything she served up, we thought we wouldn't be able to eat anything else for the rest of the day, but luckily that proved false as we had booked to eat dinner at the wonderful Sportsman Restaurant at Seasalter!

This is a great base for exploring Whitstable and, slightly further afield, the Isle of Thanet. We came away so relaxed and are now trying to think of excuses to go back....soon!

My partner and I could not rate The Linen Shed highly enough.
We stayed for two nights and were welcomed into the fold by the charming owners Vickie and Graham and cats Mr Wilfred and Cecil.
The house itself is being lovingly restored by the pair with beautiful period features and reclaimed antiques. Indeed a very vintage and stylish experience.
A tasty choice of home cooked gourmet breakfasts which we took outside on the veranda in the sunshine.
Whether you are in the area to try some of the fantastic restaurants such as the Sportsman in Seasalter or Wheelers in Whitstable, or fancy as weekend away to roam the Kent countryside, The Linen Shed offers a comfortable, warm and stylish retreat.
I will be back bringing friends to sample some of Vickie’s vintage teas and gourmet picnics.
