Wetherspoons pubs are reliable places for cheap food and drinks, particularly helpful for early beer or cider. This is a new (2012) pub with high standards of cleanliness, service and food. The porridge and coffee for £2.19 is a bargain.

We met friends and arranged to meet here. The staff were very friendly and welcomed us. The pub is nicely presented with modern clean tables and chairs. The service was quick and the food cooked well. The ladies toilets are amazing, very plush. Will be going back soon. Not much parking, in fact we ended up parking outside the door.

We arrived @ about 19:35 on Sunday evening & waited @ the bar to be served. The staff were fully aware we had been waiting ages compared to everyone else, as we were drinking & dining we were the 1st to arrive out of around 10 customers who were all going to be eating and drinking so missed out on 300-400 in takings just on us. So the staff decided to serve their friends who literally had just walked to the bar & it was so obvious what happened so we challenged the bar staff where he stumble in his tracks being found out! Where he gave an excuse he had just started his shift, intact he was serving when we walked in so that was a lie & he knew he was in the wrong but didn't care. We decided to divert our other friends and we all went to Applewood farm where we had a fantastic meal drinks weren't served by scumy, chavy staff that couldn't care less. The bar was also completely covered in sticky drinks that had been spilt & had not been wiped since it had opened earlier. The place was full of dirty glasses & on the way out I'm glad we didn't stop as the whole place was thick with dirt. Don't even bother with this place I would say go to the Applewood or the Cock much better places in the area.

This pub has been converted into a wetherspoons and it has had a complete makeover. The decor is very modern, the food very nice and competively priced. A good range of beers and wines are on offer at very keen prices I.e Guiness at £1.99 a pint.

We visited the Bulls Head at Walkden on Sunday 28th October 2012 at 4pm. The pub was very quiet. The interior has been very tastfully decorated. The furnishings are very nice. We picked a table and went to sit at it only to find the seating was dirty. We selected a different table and although not as bad as the other seating the seating was dirty. We all ordered the Sunday lunch option with 2 people opting for the extra veg at an additional £1.50 per person. The food was appalling. The chicken looked well done but it was obvious that it had not been cooked recently. It was cold in parts and lukewarm in others. The roast potatoes were cold and rubbery and the veg looked like it had seen better days. The whole meal was a disaster. I appreciate what other reviewers say about you get what you pay for but I do not believe you should waste good money on food here. There are plenty of establishments who serve a meal at a similar price that is served and cooked well. I would advise to look around don't waste your money here on food that has basically not been cooked properly.
