Diamonds Thudufushi
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed May 24, 2013

We're just back from a 10 day stay at Thudufushi. It was our first trip to the Maldives and despite sometimes the 'bad' weather (out of 10, we had 4 days where it was rainy), we absolutely loved it :-). We stayed in a water villa which was a wonderful experience and makes you sometimes feel like you're on a boat, especially with some stormy weather as you can feel the gentle shaking of the villa. We had our breakfast on the terrace deck, no better way to start the day. Lunch and dinner were served in the à la carte restaurant - this was really top class delicious food. The overall restaurant experience could be improved a bit: sometimes we had to wait quite long for our drinks and we noticed that waiters at other tables seemed a bit friendlier and cheerful. The island itself is quite tiny, but there's enough to do if you're up for it; the water sports & dive centers have very friendly and knowledgeable staff and offer a wide variety of things to do. Also every evening, some animation activity is foreseen. Aside from the welcome cocktail, we did not partake in any of them, since we enjoyed just staying in the peace and quiet of our terrace. This resort gets 5 stars without any doubt. It will be very hard for us to top this holiday and we're dreaming of going back already.

Room Tip: If you have the budget for it, go for a water villa.

Well what can I say !!! From the time we left Male on the seaplane for our short journey to our Island it was like a picture from a magazine. The island is small but amazing. We stayed in a beach villa on the opposite side to the reception (no 23).Great views, quiet ,good snorkelling on house reef .
The food is amazing, the staff are excellent. The cleanliness off the whole island is fantastic.
My husband did a few days diving and thoroughly enjoyed it.There is small boutique shop with lovely items. Also there is an onsite tailor for clothing.Iwould recommend you take sun creams and toiletries as there is a little shop but not a wide range .
We ate in the water villa restaurant (extra charge) the chef is Thai. The food is the best food we have ever eaten I would highly recommend to go there. ( if you ask for Thai food make sure you let him know how hot )
We so enjoyed our experience that we have already booked to go back next year .

Having travelled to many countries with fine beaches in the caribbean and stayed at 5 star resorts, this topped the lot - there really is no place like the Maldives.

Travelled here for silver wedding anniversary treat for 12 nights:

Beautiful small island away from it all - so much better than a resort.
Peace, quite and tranquility
Lovely staff and great service - genuine and very friendly
Super helpful guest services team led by Steve made sure everything ran like clockwork
Great italian watersports and diving team
Fantastic water villas and water villa restaurant serving excuisite thai/european fusions

Will definitely be back - as soon as possible!

The beauty and peacefulness of this atol (island) more than makes up for the travel time it takes to get here! We stayed in a lovely beach villa and enjoyed walking out of our door and into the sea. The food was wonderful and diverse despite the remote location. The Maldives is a divers paradise and we spent most days enjoying the mainly drift dives over incredibly beautiful and colourful coral and sea life! There is little else to do on this tiny island paradise other than relax and we certainly did plenty of that! Highly recommended for diving and tranquility!

Back to the Maldives for the 8th time picking different resorts every time. This one is one of the best combination we have experienced. It’s an upper level resort, well managed by David and his staff. It would take a lot of space to name them all but in two weeks you get appreciate their help. Starting with the ladies in alphabetical order, Emily, Ramona & Serena then Manuel and Steve. Davide always entertained us with live music at meals which I will describe as 5 star. Giacomo, the Executive chef, is a major added value to the resort. Meals were buffet with great choice and for those that like fish, two types of grilled fish twice a day as well as other types on the food bench. I could go on with the deserts ecc but …would take all the space. The beverages are served to your table. Here, there is room for improvement. A little slow. I’ve had larger rooms (Beach Villa) and maybe could be further apart but they are clean ad housekeeping is perfect. Over all it was a great vacation. Looking forward to going back.

Room Tip: Beach Villas are a little close (you hear everything). Water Villas have more privacy.

it is just like Athuruga even though the first one is even more separate from any kind of crowd.
Vegetables and fishes are great but of course you can have also any other kind of food with no limits.
Water Villa is a must and enable you to live just like on your private yacht, a large one and without the rolling on the water.
You can sleep with windows open facing the sea. it will be a lullaby

Room Tip: I would choose rooms with the sun in the afternoon

Our sixth visit to this beautiful island which can only be described as paradise! We always prefer to stay in the beach bungalows which are just a few steps from the water's edge. The Maldivian staff at Diamonds Thudufushi are attentive, helpful and always smiling! Buffet style meals offering everything you could wish for with different themes each night, barbecued fish every meal, Maldivian food with salads and fresh fruits - so much choice!
Snorkelling trips on the Maldivian dohni boats or diving; fishing trips or cocktails on a sand bank ... Plenty of opportunity to take part in activities or simply relax in the dappled shade of a palm tree on the beach. Sunrise or sunset walks round the island along the shoreline; stopping at the beach bar for refreshment .... The night sky explained; fun at quiz night or disco dancing ... Bar staff always on duty!
We can't wait to return .......
