“Amazing place...Amazing Host...TOP TOP TOP”
Reviewed August 10, 2013

Me, my husband and my two years old daughter stayed at Le Ghiande the last week of July for a weekend . Was an old idea of mine to explore the Amalfi coast, Positano in particular.
Since then we haven't words to describe how amazing was the travel and staying at 'Le Ghiande'...This B&B really deserves to achieve a top rated position not only for the facilities offered (Perfectly clean, stunning view, delicious and complete breakfast with local delicatessen and others, wi fi internet, confortable bed,). How could I forget to mention the kindness of Salvatore, Dmitri and Carlo always ready to help in every moment and situation.
How can I forget Night of Pizza along with all those amazing people.(I need to say that Salvatore and his aunt are able to prepare one of the best pizza i've ever eaten. i really praised their hobby of chef).
Climbing steps to achieve the entrance definitively irrelevant (We travelled with a 2 years child).
We'll surely be back.
With' B&B Le Ghiande' it's impossible to wrong, they work by love and enthusiasm.
Saluti a Salvatore, Dmitri e tutta la Famiglia.

We enjoyed so much our stay in this BB it is a heavenly place, full of flowers, fruit trees, breathtaking view from your own room! You can watch the stars in the night in the dark from your room balcony and its just amazing. This is much better than staying in Positano that is so busy with tourists running around. There are near by restaurants, that are a culinary experience Mamma mia! The breakfast is amazing! Warm bread, home made cake, the best cappuccino ever, cheeses, ham, juices, yogurt, fruits, we ended up full until late in the afternoon. Salvatore and his Dad were super nice, they do everything to make you comfortable, I even got a limoncello for my birthday that I spend there, just to say how warm they are. Yes there are lots of stairs which might be a problem for elder people, or someone with knee injuries. We went all the way down to Positano beach through the 1000 stairs as the locals say, and it was fun because the view is dramatic! Wow! Do stay in this place, I also read the tripadvisor reviewa before going there and it is true! Hope to go there again at some point in the coming years.

Myself & my girlfriend spent 7 nights in this B&B (Jun 22nd-29th 2013). It was without doubt the best B&B experience we have ever had from the moment we arrived to the moment we left.
On arrival we were greeted at the gate by Dmitri who took our bags & sat us at a table on the terrace overlooking the beautiful town of Positano & the Mediterranean Sea. He then served us up home made pastries with a choice of cool drinks (which was very welcome having travelled for 15 hours all in all). It was at this point that our host Salvatore made himself known to us.
This man is one in a million. He goes above and beyond to be helpful & accommodating, recommending places of interest, restaurants, beaches, excursions & providing documentation, timetables & whatever else you may need. He treats you like family making sure your that stay is an enjoyable one.
Every morning we were spoilt with pastries, breads, meat & cheese selections, yoghurts, fruits, coffees, cappuccinos, espressos, etc. You name it, they will accommodate.
The room itself was superb with a comfy double bed, an excellent air conditioning system should you need it, a table with kettle, teas & coffees, a mini-fridge stocked with beer, juices, water, etc. The bathroom facilities were immaculate with a power shower, fluffy towels & face clothes, shampoos & shower gels. The room was cleaned every day & towels replaced. Overall an excellent standard, better than many hotels I have stayed in over my years of travelling.
The room also had a terrace with a patio table & chairs & 2 deckchairs so that you can relax on an evening taking in the beautiful view below.
Salvatore greeted us returning from various daytrips to ensure that everything was to our liking, which it always was. One evening in particular he presented us with a homemade bottle of Limoncello which was gratefully received & enjoyed by myself as a night cap over a few nights. It is little touches like this that make this place the gem that it is.
On top of this, when it came to the morning of us leaving, he would not allow us to pay €25 for a taxi to bring us to our bus pick-up point. He insisted on driving us there. Not only that, he had a packed breakfast ready & bagged for us for our journey. Now that is what I mean by above & beyond. One of lifes true gentlemen.
I could go on & on but you should have a fair idea of the standard this establishment sets itself.
We were treated with utter kindness & received the best that you could hope for when travelling abroad. Thank you Salvatore, Dmitri & all at Le Ghiande. We will be back.

My husband and I stayed with Salvatore for 5 nights. We wanted a base for exploring the Amalfi coast, to do some walking and visiting Capri and the Bay of Naples.
The pros: Well priced considering the location near Positano. Self catering, well appointed ( though could do with more cooking utensils), great views over the coast, quiet, really good breakfasts, small supermarket close by, also some great restaurants, including La Tagliata trattoria only 200m away (people come here from Positano, bookings necessary).
Bus stop at the door, actually on the Sentiero degli die (the path to Le ghiande forms part of the section around and down to Positano), car parking could be arranged, free (but best to do without a car if possible because of problems parking elsewhere on the coast).
Salvatore is a great host, who is happy to help you arrange tours, bookings, and give advice if needed. Wifi is free, but signal strength varies greatly.
Cons: The location is both great, for the views, though the village itself is not particularly attractive, but is inconvenient as a base for the region. Every trip to anywhere requires catching the local bus down the hill to Positano. This is a 15 minutes trip in a bus so crowded that you will most likely be standing. Add some writing time at the bus stop and you will need to factor in at least 20 minutes each way at the beginning and end of each day. Also, if you miss a connection, you may have to wait for an hour for the next bus if it is a weekend or late.
This is ok if you just want to go to Positano for the day, but makes going too far afield more difficult, as you need to connect with the Sita buses which operate between Amalfi and Sorrento. We went to Capri for the day, to Ravello, to Amalfi, and did lots of walks including the Sentiero degli die, but did not got to Pompeii or Herculaneum, or Naples, as it would have been very long days.
Of course, this is a problem anywhere along this coast , but certainly, staying in Positano or Amalfi town would make this easier. Also, it can sometimes be difficult getting on the Sita buses as they won't stop if they are too full, so being at Amalfi, positano or Sorrento is a better bet.
One other thing, make sure you know how to get to Le ghiande, as you will need to find the correct bus stop in Positano, which is not always easy given their one way street system.

Le Ghiande is a beautiful place to stay, situated in a picturesque setting high above Positano. We just returned from our third wonderful visit at Le Ghiande …we highly recommend this B&B!

Our spacious “Positano Room” had a large terrace with breathtaking panoramic views of Montepertuso, Positano and the Mediterranean Sea. The room was immaculately clean equipped with a comfortable bed, TV, AC, free Wifi and a kitchenette with refrigerator/mini bar.

A fabulous breakfast was served on the sunny terrace. Cappuccino, warm homemade croissants and brioche, fresh fruit, juice, yogurt and a Panini station were all delicious! It was fun talking to other guests who were from all parts of the world.

Salvatore, Demetri and Don Carlo…made us feel so welcome. Their warm smiles and kind hospitality is what makes Le Ghiande a memorable vacation. If you are looking for an authentic “Italian Experience” where you will be treated like family then Le Ghiande is the place for you!

My sister and I stayed at B&B Le Ghiande for 3 nights in May, and absolutely loved our time here. Let me firstly say that if you like to stay in the centre of the action, can't climb stairs, and want luxurious furniture and surroundings, this place won't be right for you. But please read on for our experience, which we both felt was wonderful.

ROOM: Our room had a wonderful terrace with a table and seating - the view is fantastic, of the water and surrounding mountains with houses perched on them. There were tea making facilities in the room, on a small wooden table, with chairs. There was also a wardrobe, with some hangers and spare wool blankets. There was a small flat screen TV, but the only english tv we managed to catch was a part of a movie late one evening after dinner. There is air conditioning in the room but we didn't use it as it was quite cool in evenings. The beds were very comfortable (if you're expecting white egyptian cotton sheets - this isn't the place for it - from memory one of us had a kids cartoon character duvet cover on her bed, which gave us both a giggle). The room is tiled.
BATHROOM: Towels are changed daily. Bathroom was spacious and very clean. There was a shower but no tub. We didn't use the toiletries they supplied (I remember they gave soap but not much else I think) as we had our own. There was a hairdryer supplied in a small chest of drawers in the bathroom too, which was great.
BREAKFAST: Breakfast was delicious and very filling. Every morning, Dmitri would ask for our choice of beverage (cappucino was absolutely delicious - I highly recommend it), and bring out warm croissants and buns for us. There is also yogurt, sliced bread, some cheese and meats, fruit, cereal, milk and juice. Special mention for the freshly baked treat every morning - usually some sort of biscuit - very yummy.
LOCATION: Lots of steps up to the entrance, which would be do-able with short breaks for most people. If you let Salvatore know in advance when you are coming up, he will have Dmitri meet you at the bus stop to take your luggage - Dmitri is amazing and super friendly, he just bounds up the stairs with 20 kilo bags. Bus stop is right in front of the B&B, which can take you down to Positano, or up to Nocelle. The bus tickets can be bought on board but are slightly cheaper when bought ahead of time at the Tobacco shop. Plenty of amazing restaurants within a 5/10 minute walk of the B&B, which we took advantage of for each of the 3 nights we stayed there (and it's very safe walking back late at night, but take a torch). We tried La Terra (highly recommend their lemon cake dessert, and excellent, friendly service), Donna Rosa (make sure you book and dress up slightly - your hiking boots will look out of place here - good food, expensive but worth it for a treat), and one other nearby restaurant starting with a 'S', which we also had a good time at.
HOST: Salvatore and Dmitri were just wonderful. We saw Salvatore about once a day, he was there to check us in and out too. He gave us tips on where to go and how best to get to various towns, and even made some dinner reservations for us! There is also a great selection of reading material on the local area near the breakfast area. Thanks Salvatore, you were very patient with us! Dmitri was such a sweetheart, practising his English and always ready with a smile at breakfast every morning, and always willing to help in any way he could.

Overall, we would return in a heartbeat. If you are after clean, simple, value-for-money accommodation and friendly, kind hosts/service, you can't go wrong here. We'll be back Salvatore! Aparna & Mya

Room Tip: Think most of the rooms all have terraces and the same view, but ask anyway!

Can't go wrong here unless you mind the 144 steps up to the place and down to the road for the bus. Comfortable room, great breakfasts, great view, most gracious of hosts. Good location for good restaurants.
