“A real taste of Italian Village Life”
Reviewed August 28, 2012

Nino B&B's offers breathtaking views from your room. The accommodation is of a high standard and spotless clean. Nino is a charming host and happy to offer his help and advice but he doesn't intrude in any way. Noelle lies up in the mountains and it's tranquility makes it very relaxing. A short bus ride will bring you to Positano. all the Italians we encountered in the area were warm, friendly and very hospitable. The area is hilly and requires walking up and down lots of steps so it's not idea for prams, young children or anyone with significant walking difficulties. I was 7 months pregnant but that's wasn't a problem at all. Comes highly recommended.

Nino's B&B is truly a place where you can relax and escape the tourist crowds. The little village of Nocelle overlooks Positano/Praiano on the Amalfi Coast and as it's higher than the two villages the views from above are spectacular - almost like a heaven on earth. There are a few steps from the bus stop to get to the accommodation but the view from the terrace is well worth the effort to get there. The rooms are spacious and immaculately clean, with a common kitchenette where you can prepare snacks or coffee/tea. There are two restaurants close by, so you don't have to travel to Positano every night to eat out. If you are into hiking, the 'Sentiero degli Dei' can be tackled directly from Nocelle. Nino is a warm and generous person and he made our stay ever so special. He puts out a great spread for breakfast and is very helpful, answering all our questions and giving us tips on where to go and what to do. Nino went above and beyond our expectations which made our stay in Positano our favourite place so far!

It is very hard to come up with a better review than the others. This was our second visit to Nocelle and we soon discovered that Nino's is certainly a special place. Nino himself is a special person. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and with Nino's help we dined at some excellent places.Staying in Nocelle is almost like going back in time, or almost being on another planet........quiet, peaceful, slow, amazing views down to the rest of the world! We had a storm on one night we were there and looked out to see the clouds on the balcony.....very dramatic! An amazing place.
Nino's breakfasts were excellent, including the boiled eggs, which tasted as if they had just been laid. His dogs are very friendly and will attempt to escape at the first opportunity!
If you are planning to visit this area, Nino's is the place to stay!

Room Tip: All the rooms are excellent

I think the the review by Nicky H sums Ninos B+B up perfectly. We are keen walkers too, but not used to B+B. We found that Ninos was a big part of the overall experience of staying in this part of Italy. Nino is so genuinely helpful and welcoming, his accomodation is all you could ask for, landscape and views stunning, walking both challenging and engrosing and you don't need a car! We travelled from Naples airport by bus to Sorrento, then to Positano and on up to Nocelle. While we were there we used the local bus to Nocelle and used water transport to visit Amalfi and Capri.

We have recomended Ninos to family and friends and are hoping to return during the winter to explore Sorrento and Pompeii

Room Tip: All good. Rooms are all air conditioned and heated if required, ensuite and have fabulous views.

Nino's B&B is a true find. Nino is an exceptional host who welcomed us and then found us delicious meats, cheeses and bread as we had not eaten any lunch along with a bottle of wine which we had on the very large balcony with stunning views over looking Positano. After an excellent night's sleep, it's so quiet in Nocelle as there are no cars, it was breakfast time.
The breakfast was delicious. A range of cereals, yoghurts, jams (all home made), juices and fruit to choose from whilst Nino prepares proper coffee, lovely eggs (scrambled was my favourite) and toast. We found out no end of information about the area, the past history of the place and the people from Nino who gave freely of his time and expertise.

Nino's is a very special place. From its lofty perch high above the picture-postcard resort of Positano, you are treated to spectacular views over the coast and surrounding mountains. Nocelle itself is a delight, a quiet village where the pace of life is reassuringly slow and untroubled by traffic.

Nino has invested a lot of himself in establishing the B and B and cares passionately about the comfort of his guests. He is a genuinely nice guy and the sumptous breakfasts shared around his kitchen table are the perfect start to any day. We had to leave for the airport at the unearthly hour of 6 a.m. but Nino was there to provide us with coffee and something to eat on our journey.

If you decide to visit the area, don't bother hiring a car. Public transport is good and surprisingly cheap. On the other hand, parking is sparse and the roads often nail-bitingly narrow. Pack some strong walking shoes. There are steps everywhere in Nocelle, but you are rewarded by direct access to the Walk of the Gods, a wonderfully exhilarating hike.

We spent 4 nights here at the end of April 2012. We’re keen walkers and had spotted Nino’s via an ad in the Ramblers magazine. What a find ! The photos on the website really don’t do justice to the views or the accommodation in general.

We’d chosen not to hire a car, and were concerned that with our flight not arriving in Naples until 16:30 the travel logisitics would make it impossible to spend our first night in Nocelle. Thanks to Nino (and his UK-based sister-in-law, Penny, who dealt with our emails quickly and liaised with Nino) it wasn’t a problem…. Despite our plane landing even later than scheduled, we were, by 8pm, sitting in a lovely restaurant 5 minutes’ walk from Nino’s, glass of local wine in hand.

Nocelle is located at 440m (and about 2000 steps !) above Positano. It’s in a fantastic position for walking and exploring even without a car. Nino’s B&B proved to be the perfect place to stay and make the most of what it offered – peace and quiet, access to those incredible views from our lovely bedroom terrace, and the choice of a pizzeria or restaurant (both tried and tested by us and much enjoyed) if we didn’t feel like self-catering using the well-equipped guest kitchen. And the walks….. We could easily have stayed for a week and not run out of things to do.

Breakfast was a real treat - great coffee, sideboard groaning with fresh fruit, juices, yoghurt, ham, cheese, cereal, different breads, perfectly soft boiled eggs made to order plus a selection of home made preserves (more than five different varieties when we were there – Nino’s lemon marmalade tasted as good as limoncello !)

The bus stop in Nocelle was a (very scenic) 5-minute walk away, providing a decent service to / from Positano. From there it’s a doddle to pick up buses to Amalfi in one direction and Sorrento in the other. Also a 5-minute walk away was an alimentari from which we bought provisions on the 2 evenings when we self-catered and ate on our balcony.

To sum up. Fantastic location, views and landscape; tasteful, spotless rooms; peace and quiet; incredibly friendly, helpful service; amazingly good value. Nino himself is a lovely bloke and the perfect host. His B&B is clearly a labour of love. We’ll definitely be going back for more.
