This is a beautiful place. A must see The monastery is right nearby and the monks are friendly. Their chanting prayers are a must hear! Four times a day was not too much! (If you want to do Mass that is at the 7:30 am prayer service--note starts at 7:15 on Sundays & Holy Days). The bells are not a problem. Make sure to ask for a room with view of the lake and make sure to pull the light blocking shades down (took us a while to find them). We walked around the lake several times, beautiful...and had a great hike over the well marked trails in the woods behind the hotel (spend the 2.40 for the map) The breakfast food is great. Lunch and dinner can be pricey, and the bar downstairs has about zero atmosphere compared to the beautiful restaurant upstairs. So, if you want to have a nice beer and some great classic German food in a classic German atmosphere, go the three miles into Mendig and eat at the Ratsstuben. Wonderful food, great hospitality, locals run it and hang out there. very accommodating to special menu requests. http://www.ratsstuben-mendig.de/. Or you can organize a picnic from the well-stocked Hofladen store that is part of the hotel complex. You can call me, Dan Read, US 919-683-1900.

This place is too expensive, but still very nice. Clean and the largest rooms we had during our two week tour of Germany, Holland and Belgium. Has an elevator, Walk to the Monastery, an easy walk. DO NOT MISS the monastery. A beautiful and relaxing place. Food very good. We had dinner in the restaurant and it was not too expensive. Very good service. The (included) breakfast was very good. Did not have a choice of three juices in any of our other hotels!

We were treated to an the 'All you can eat Sunday lunch' by friends. The Seehotel is set on the edge of Maria Laach with excellent views of the lake from the Dining Room windows and although the restaurant is quite modern there is an atmosphere of quiet luxury. There was a wide range of starters, fish, main courses and deserts all beautifully presented, well worth a second visit in the future.

I used this hotel in business trip based on recommendation of my business partner in Mayen.
The hotel is located close to the water front and the lake is well viewed from the room and from the restaurant terrace. The hotel includes SPA which i didn't use and it could be good for a longer stay than 1 night in a business trip.
The restaurant was a good surprise with excellent food, rich menu and nice service.
The downside of this hotel is the small room and small bed.
On the good side that it was not that expensive.
There are nature paths and trails in the area. THere is also a camp site and small sail boats marina. Should be good for vacation.

I stayed at the hotel for one night while attending a workshop held in the conference facilities of the hotel.

The hotel itself is set in a nice surrounding, right next to an abbey and looking over a lake. It offers a sauna / spa area and a pool, but I didn't use that, so can't say anything about the quality.

There is a nice little bar in the basement serving local beer.

The room is clean and functional, but the decor is out of the early nineties, as well as the bathroom. This is not modern standard for business hotels - and judging by the amount of meeting facilities this is what they are catering for. The bathroom got flooded while taking a shower, even though I had the glass doors that should keep that from happening closed.

The breakfast buffet was good, also catering to the international guests.

I chose two nights here in order to visit Koblenz and return by the Rhine. The hotel adjoins the abbey and two associated businesses, but otherwise is isolated. The hotel is hospitable and the staff friendly, but the hotel is also geared for functions and conferences which might impact on the individual visitor. My single room was comfortable with no annoying design features (except the floppy pillow). In addition to the restaurants with their views, I appreciated the free wi-fi, but less so the swimming area since I prefer a decent swimming length to hydro-gadgets.
I was on half-pension, and liked that I thereby did not have to eat early, and that there was a choice of main courses. However I did think it was pricey for the basic food offered.
The hotel has been approved by "Bett und Bike", but I am not sure that the formality at the evening meal will be wanted by cyclists. I can get by in German, but I had the impression that there is not much English spoken in the hotel.
I have withheld a star because back home I found I was charged 9 euros per night more than the quote which I had approved in writing. I did not ask for the bill before paying since the hotel did seem to pay attention to detail, but they fell at the last hurdle.

I have stayed here 6 times, generally around May /June set in the beautiful hills with a lake below, the rooms very clean as is the hotel overall the staff are very friendley and helpfull, only one thing i can find fault with is the bells from the monestry loacted at the rear, if your a early riser then these will bennefit you as they noramally sound at aorund 6.00 am btw if you stay at this hotel a visist the Monestry is well worth a look , as is the stunning countryside the Hotel is set in, great beer good food and excellant service, this also makes a good stop off piont if your heading the the Nurburgring as its a 20 min drive away, my tip is avaoid bells get a room in the front of the Hotel overlooking the lake.

Room Tip: avaoid bells get a front room
