“Tranquility and Peace”

We found out recent stay at Wendy's Eco Guest House to be more than we expected. The forest around the house has so many birds and animals. There were four Toucans in a tree right near the house, we didn't even need our binoculars. At night we swung in hammocks on the porch and were serenaded by lots of frogs. As an escape from the city noise we found great peace and tranquility.
The house was not only beautiful but comfortable. Wendy and her family are very friendly and accommodating. The meal her mother made was very delicious! We highly recommend this forest retreat. Wendy is also a very knowledgeable nature guide.

“Amazing house offering a real Costa Rican lifestyle experience!”

My family of 5 (3 teenage/young adult boys) stayed at the Eco Guest House for 9 days over Christmas. If you are looking for comfort, education, nature, relaxation and a view into life as a Costa Rican, this is the place to stay. The Eco Guest House is a beautiful, eco-friendly, sustainable home. It has plenty of room for large families. The open air concept allows you to be close to nature. You can hear all the birds, animals and reptiles in the jungle and look out at the stars in the night right from your bed. It has all the comforts you need in a natural and rustic setting.

The host family is willing to offer advice, assistance and will quickly become a friend. We shared many meals of delicious traditional food prepared by Dona Rita along with conversations and laughs at the home of the hosts. The hosts went over and above what we ever expected, in many situations. They helped us plan activities, advised local places to visit (even joined us once) including shopping for groceries and basic needs. They ensured we were more than comfortable throughout our stay.

Be sure to take advantage of the tours the family offers of the farm they live on, a hike to a close by waterfall, searching for frogs in the evening and birds in the early morning. You don't want to miss these personal, educational and fun experiences!

“The best Costa Rican experience”

We loved this delightful eco-friendly house in a quiet clearing surrounded by beautiful forest. We discovered that the balcony was a great place to watch the many colorful birds in the nearby trees, including toucans, parrots and tanagers. On a morning walk we saw about 15 varieties of birds. Walking at night we saw many different frogs including the colorful red-eyed tree frogs.

The unique part of our stay was the time we spent with the loving family who live on the farm. We shared with them delicious local meals of farm grown produce, and then sat around the family table talking (Spanish and English)and learning about Tico family life and culture. There were cooking classes with mother Rita, and a variety of animals to meet and feed.

The wonderful house, the closeness of nature and the family cultural experiences meant that this was our favorite place to stay in Central America.

A brand new two story house with a nice architectural design surrounded by forest on all sides. Lots of open space, sleeps six, 2 full baths. We woke up every morning to howler monkeys (congos). We also saw collared aracaris, tanagers, oropendulas. And we saw great green macaws, too (rare) !!! Very comfortable beds, nice open concept kitchen fully equipped with stove/ oven, fridge, microwave & coffeemaker. Very private setting. Highly recommended!
