On a group tour and stayed one night here. Something different. Tents with attached bathroom.
Was surprisingly comfortable. Did sleep well with earplugs as the jungle sounds are not quiet and the night time rain was quite loud on the canvas. Delightful place and restaurant overlooks open ground. The breakfast staff were all pleasant and smiley. Lots of birds but did not hear howler monkeys which I was promised. Nice little walks in the jungle. A good choice for accomodation.

Spent one night here with a group I was traveling with... Got the best night's sleep of my nine days in Costa Rica.Tents provide plenty of privacy with an attached bath for each. We enjoyed dinner and breakfast in the dining area. Would definitely do it again.

Only 1,5 hours from San Jose you find this beautiful place in the middle of nature.
The tent suites are very comfortable, ours had a kingsize bed, electricity and a terrace in front. All of the tents have a private bathroom in which you also find a save and a place to put your cloths and stuff. Thats practical as you can lock the bathroom- which is of course impossible with the tent as it only has a zipper.
The tents are around 1 kilometer from the operation center of Pozo Azul where the restaurant is and the tours start. If you don't have a car they wil organize the transportation for you.
At the tent suites you find a small restaurant where they serve the breakfast and also a dinner depending on the amount of guests (you should make your reservation in the morning to have dinner there at night). The breakfast was typical costa rican with Gallo Pinto, eggs, ham, cheese, toasts, maremalde and juice.
I loved our stay in the tents suites, to wake up in the morning with the sunrise and the sound of the jungle around, the place was so quiet and relaxing. We stayed 3 nights at the end of december and enjoyed a completely different way to start into the new year. No party, just nature.
We also did one of the hiking tours from Pozo Azul. Make your reservation early enough so they can do the coordination with the guides. We would have loved to do the hike earlier to see more animals but unfortunately it was not possible.
We also did the class II-III rafting and had a lot of fun. The guide was very nice and professional and we enjoyed the tour a lot.
After the tours we had lunch in the restaurant with a nice view of the Sarapiqui river. The buffet was good, the food tasty and fresh.
Only once we had a bad experience when we decided to have dinner at the hotel. We noticed that they served some of the food that was left from the lunch, which in general is no problem, but it didn't taste very fresh and it was a shame that they didnt prepare anything a little bit more "special" as it was december 31st.

I really recommend this place, also as they supprt sustainable tourism which is very important.
Everybody was so friendly at the reception, the restaurant and during the tours.

This 'hotel' was really querky and is not the place to stay if you don't like bugs or animals, however, it was a fantastic place to stay to experience sleeping surrounded by the rainforest and the noise of the wildlife and to be able to watch the animals from your balcony and bed.
The tents are all individually set in the rainforest and built on permanent platforms. Ours had one comfy kingsized bed but some others had two beds. The tents all have electricity and lighting and have a solidly build bathroom and storage area where you can lock your kit, this area also contains a safe.
The staff were all extremely helpfull and friendly.
The onsite activities, we did the rafting and the zip lining, were great fun, very well organised and safe with knowledgeable staff.
Great walks available through the onsite rainforest where you could spot plenty of wildlife.
The only downsides were the cold showers, we tried to get hot water at several times of the day and evening but didn't suceed and the buffet style evening meals with a limited choice.
Had we been able to have hot showers I would have given this a 5 star rating as it provides a unique experience.

The tented accommodation was awesome, but - it is a tent in the rainforest - so if you're expecting a bug-free atmosphere, rather stick to the cities! The adventure activities were excellent and the staff at the main house were excellent. As I was traveling with a group of students - I can highly recommend this outfit as perfect for large groups. I will never forget the sounds of the rain beating on the tent with every insect in the jungle striving to be heard over the storm. A place I will never forget.
