“This was a great place.....but......”
Reviewed January 30, 2005

We just got back a couple of days ago from Beaches Boscobel and I have to say that some of the reviews scared me!!! We (my husband and two kids (4 yrs. & 6 yrs.) had a great time!!! The resort itself is beautiful and always picked up. The kids loved the water slide and the smaller jacuzzi next to the pool. The food was excellent. My kids ate so well for 10 days and my husband and I loved it as well. There was so much to choose from and it was honestly wonderful food. We had gone to the Holiday Inn Sunspree last year in Montego Bay and the food was horrendous. Both of my kids wouldn't eat much there and I actually didn't either so we were nervous about the "Beaches" food but was pleasantly surprised. The staff was awesome, very nice and friendly. There was one guy named Jason at the front desk that didn't seem too friendly, he seemed like you were bothering him if you had a question. Other than him, the whole staff, from the bartendars to the water sport guys, were just wonderful. Always had a smile on their faces and always courteous!!! The only bad thing about Beaches Boscobel is the room. It smelled very bad of must and there was definitely mold in the bathroom. The floors (tiled) in the room itself was tiled and my daughter fell at least 6 times because it was very slippery. I couldn't figure out what was making it so slippery but it was. We put down damp towels so that it would stick to the floor and they could walk on it without falling!!! I don't think I would go back to Beaches because of the room. To me, you aren't in your room alot and I can overlook so many things but the smell was pretty gross and the mold was a little creepy. We spent alot of money to go to Beaches Boscobel and to me, if you are spening that much money, your room should be at least presentable. We stayed in room 1209. Maybe there are other rooms that are nice but this one was not. Like I said, the beach wasn't bad, at least not as bad as some of the other reviews had suggested. My kids loved it and that's all that mattered. Everything else about the resort was great. My kids had a ball swimming, game room, jet skiing, water trampoline, etc. That is what mattered to me. The ONLY reason I would not stay again was because of the room that we had stayed in. It was pretty nasty. Hope this helps!!!!!

I find it hard to believe all the great reviews on this place. I had to check to be sure I was on the right resort. I think perhaps the majority of disappointed people never return to this site due to lack of interest and that is why there are few negatives.
Our room was filled with black mold, the resort was filled to capacity so we had no room for a day. others had bathroom back ups and leaks. Housekeeping was short staffed. The buffet was horrid and the restauant lines were outragous. The tubing expedition was ridiculous..they pick you up late and then rush you down the river in 20 minutes to beat the dark.
The only good thing was the kid's club but outside of that I would never risk my health with black mold, sewage back up...
Stay Away...do yourself a favor.

We orginally had booked the jamaica grande over new year's but found the hotel was going to still be closed for renovations so they helped us book Beaches Boscobel.

We got married on New Year's eve and the wedding coordinator and staff that helped us were amazing - the photographer, the bartender, the wedding coordinator and her manager and just everyone was so great and made us feel at home.

Although it is a family resort, there was still plenty of places to hang out -- they gave us a great upgrade to a room overlooking the beach at the very end of the resort (away from all the kids!). The made sure our bar was stocked and we really felt taken care of the days leading up to our wedding.

all the restaurants serve really good food - the bbq stand was really good as well as the lunch buffet!

i would definitely stay there again!

Our family went to this resort over Christmas break. We had a nice time, but there are other places that are cheaper and easier to get to. The drive from the airport to the resort is two hours of rough driving. The resort is very clean and the service is wonderful! The best thing about the place is the nice staff. The buffet food is terrible. The food in the restaurants is O.K.. They have a lot of nice activities for the children, and the pools are nice. The beach area is small but the water sports are fun. The so called zoo is very dirty and few animals. The tennis courts are nice. Overall, the resort is fair. If you decide to go here, stay in the rooms that are right on the beach or ocean front, not ocean view. I saw one of the other rooms and they are not great. You need to be right on the ocean!!

First of all, this might be a great place if your into lots and lots of children, none of whom have any manners or apparantly any rules, but if your into an adult vacation this is not the place. The rooms were nice, no complaints there, but my friend and I were relocated there after our previously reserved resort closed. We had specifically requested an adults only resort. Our travel agent said that this was "the place" for two single gals who wanted to party. WRONG! The first problem was that there was no place other than one restaurant where we could get away from the children. Even though they had two pools of their own the adult pool and swim up bar were inundated from open to close with children who's parents thought that it was very cool for their kids to be able to go to the adult bar and order virgin pina coladas. We had to wait upwards of 20 minutes to get a drink while the children were being accomodated. The beach is very small and honestly, I felt it was dirty. The water was not nice, neither was the ocean floor. Very weedy, silty, and just all around gross. The pool was beautiful, but again, the children running around everywhere was unsettling and every morning at 10 am the Sesame Street parade got to be VERY annoying. The food was just average. The other big complaint we had is that the property is approx 20 miles out from Ochii and the cab ride round trip was very expensive. We were originally supposed to within walking distance of the city and all it has to offer. We will not be going to this property ever again and will for sure not use the same travel agent.

We stayed @ Boscobel from 12/23 until 01/03 and had a fantastic time there. Each one of us (we are parents of a 4 and 7 year old) had the best time ever. I loved exercising in the morning before everybody got up and then meet with them @ the buffet for breakfast. The food was absolutely super and the variety and quality of foods offered was excellent. My husband liked to hang out at the pool whereas the kids and I were much more active with the offered craft classes, organized games, photo opportunities with SESAME characters and building sandcastles. Yes, the beach is small, but for a mother of two little ones I found it put me at ease to have it much more overseeable. The staff was super friendly. Most of the time we had dinner at the Bayside restaurant because of the abundance of offered dishes. Once we tried the Venetian and it was very good, but we just liked the chance to try a little bit of everything instead of having to choose one entree. The entertainment staff was incredible, too. All of them are very good with kids. Two people in particular come into mind. Acleish and Robert. Both have been phenomenal and made our stay extra special. Our littlest one still can't decide whom she will marry and told them both they are going to be her husbands. The entertainment at night was great with a variety of shows and music and we have been blessed to see such musical and acrobatic talents. We had a blast with learning to dance Reggae, I participated in a Fashion Show, all of us were numerous times a team at different games and earned points. True, the points you earn are not much and what you get at the end is a small token but the gest of it is, that you were suppossed to have fun. One does not have to participate in anything (like my husband). We did it because it seemed to be fun and we were never wrong. We have met so many nice people that made it very sad to go home. Our room was very quiet right above the Fitness Center and we were never awaked by loud noises, although I have heard people complain about the noise factor when they were staying at a different part of the hotel. One family requested to be moved because their room was so close to the disco that they never had a good night's sleep. I guess we were just lucky to have been put up in a differnt area. The girls made quick friends with everybody and loved the BBQ pit for a quick lunch. They also loved to go to the petting zoo, feeding the animals and the ice and smoothie machines. Each of us (we are all very different from each other) had an excellent time, because we all did different things at the same time. For example my littlest loved to go to Kids Camp. My oldest didn't but made a friend there and was always on the go with this other girl. They had a terrific time in the pool, making bracelets, dying shirts, feeding the animals, playing chess, etc. I had a great time doing different games, excursions and being generally active with various stuff that was offered, whereas my husband was happy to just stay put at the pool close to the pool bar. Every now and then he would dip in the water to get another Pinacolada. But that's just the way he is. Point being everyone can have fun there if you want to have fun. I have read the reviews about Boscobel and was very concerned, turns out there isn't a reason to be concerned at all. The food was very good, everywhere, the drinks are not watered down at all, the staff is super friendly. All in all we had the best time ever. I loved it and would definetly go back. Yes, it's true, Jamaicans can be pushy if they want you to buy something, but a polite and firm No thanks will do. To sum things up, I don't know how anybody can walk away from Boscobel and be dissapointed. I guess some people you just can't please. I think a lot has to do with your personal attitude. If you want to have fun, you will have fun in Jamaica @ Boscobel. We were treated like royalty while we were there and have nothing to complain about. I'm recommending Beaches Boscobel to all our friends. If you have kids that are in the range of 3-13, this is the place to go. Period. Please if anybody is reading this, decides to go, tell Acleish and Robert "HI".
Cheers to everybody and have a wonderful time. You have to climb the Dunn's River Falls!!! It's such beauty. Now go and have a good time!!!

this was the best vacation my family has ever had. There was 24 of us. We had our own balcony facing the ocean! The bartenders rock! (Ralston, Milton and Carlyle) Also bayside was a very good resturant. We were assisted by Elvis a majority of the time! He was a big help!
Everyone wanted to help! Serief and the other life guards were a big help with the water sports! The Resort was BEAUTIFUL and very clean. Never for one minute did i want to leave! WE all wish we were still there.. Thank you!
