Staff is quite special from the entrance right down to the beach. Facilities are clean well taken care of. Food is excellent at every restaurant in the resort. If you have teenage children like we do, they will be bored. This resort focuses on the Sesame Street crowd. Adult entertainment is OK but we went there for the beach. Unfortunately we never found it, it is tiny looks dug out and you can't really swim anywhere its all roped off, understandably this is probably meant to be a safer environment for small children. Overall the resort is very nice the people are outstanding. We won't go back because of the beach but will try the Beaches Negril next year.

We love this resort. It was our 4th year in a row, travelling here. Staff are excellent, food is good, and we love the size of the resort. It has a very safe feel to it, when you are travelling with children.

We had one negative experience this year. Overnight, our bathing suits were taken from the outdoor rack, where they were left to dry. I recommend that you bring all of your belongings in at night.

Staff are great. Special thanks to Gregory on the beach, JoMo and Kirkland from Neptune, Karen in housekeeping, Justin the Concierge and Rayon who filled our bar fridge! All are super nice people, who go above and beyond to see that you have a great vacation.

Room Tip: If you want to see the ocean, you should be ocean front, not ocean view.

I'm writing this review while we're still here! What a great place for families, especially with younger children.
The ride from the airport was about two hours but the bus was air conditioned and fairly comfortable. When we arrived, we were sent to the main lobby and our bags were taken directly to our room. In the lobby, we were offered a drink (rum punch or champagne for the adults, fruit punch or water for the kids). A staff member took the time to explain the basics of the resort and then showed us to our room. Tip: Take the time to go to the orientation offered daily at 9 am and 4 pm. It's only 30 minutes and gives you a good overview of restaurants, bars, activities, entertainment, etc.
My husband and son have golfed twice so far this week ... short shuttle ride to the course and the rounds are quick because it's not busy. They've enjoyed it. Walked it once and took at cart the next time, and they're planning their next round. Tip: There is no ATM at the resort. You can get a cash advance but it will be Jamaican money. You don't need really need much money here as almost everything can be charged to your room (and most things are included) but you do need money for the caddies at the golf course and water etc.
The water sports are great! The family has been on the banana boat and the kayaks. The guys have been snorkelling. Planning to use the aquatrikes and hobiecat today. Lots of scuba divers, and we've been overhearing positive comments about their experiences.
The beach is small but not overcrowded (and the resort is at full capacity this week). It's perfect for young children as you can always keep them in sight. I haven't heard anyone complain. In fact, exactly the opposite. Everyone we talk to can't say enough about how wonderful the resort and the staff are.
The food is really great! Our kids are a bit picky but they're not having any trouble finding things they enjoy, in fact, they're trying new things. The breakfast buffet has a smoothie bar, lots of cereals, yogurt, cheeses, breads and bagels, oatmeal, eggs, bacon and sausage and they cook eggs and omelettes to order. There is also a kids' section with french toast, chocolate pancakes, vanilla pancakes and sometimes a separate omelette bar for the kids. Lots of selections at lunch and dinner. We had a very nice meal at the Venetian (the Italian restaurant). Haven't tried the others yet but again, have heard lots of positive feedback. One family told us that they went to Neptune, the seafood restaurant, and the kids were able to get steak as they weren't seafood fans.
The kids club is really great. They have several different clubs and really cater to each age group. Our daughter (age 8) made a lot of new friends the very first day and stayed right from opening (9 am) to closing (5 pm). They take a one hour break, and then start again at 6 pm (dinner) and continue to 9 pm. I've watched the counsellors with the little ones in the pool and they are very attentive and careful. You can just sit back and relax without a worry. All of the staff are wonderful with the children and go out of their way to make sure they're participating and having fun.
The main stage is right near the pool and there are things happening all day long. It never seems to get really noisy though. The waterpark is a blast! There are slides of all different sizes so there is something for everyone. Our daughter spent the whole day there yesterday (10 am to 5 pm) and never got bored. It is right near the BBQ Park, so the kids can walk over and get ice cream, nachos, burgers, pizza, etc any time.
The resort is smaller than others we have been to, and for my taste, just the right size. It's not a long trek back to the room and the kids are never too far away.
I was a bit worried about being bothered by people selling things on the beach, but when we went down, it was not a problem. They don't actually come onto the beach, so it's easy to keep to yourself if you don't want to shop. There are some shops behind the watersports area, and they'll call and invite you over, but it's easy say no if you're not interested.
The entertainment has been great. There are shows every night at the main stage. Last night was a talent show for guests to participate in. I was expecting something very amateurish and boring, but they really put on show! Guests were mixed in with "pros" and some of the guests actually did have talent!
We went to a beach party/bonfire one night - great evening - be sure not to miss it! They mixed in professional entertainers (fire eater and limbo dancer) with games where they had all ages up partipating. And they handed out sticks with marshmellows for roasting. Kids loved it!
And I can't forget to mention the staff. I've seen it in the other reviews and they really are exceptional. So friendly and helpful! They really seem to enjoy their work and have fun doing it.
This is definitely a great place for a family vacation!

The resort is built into a hill, spread out with lots of walking required, many sets of steps, and has a very small beach. We were even there during reconstruction in November 2012, after the storms earlier in 2012. Those things being said, we had a great time.

Plenty of things to do with kids of all ages, day camp, glass bottom boat ride, banana tube speed rides, water park, whole slew of activities, video game rooms. Training on scuba diving, snorkeling, hobie cat sailing.

For adults, get those legs in shape walking around! Good to work off the drinks from the variety of bars and restaurants all around.

Plenty of food choices between simple buffet, pizza/italian, seafood, etc. Some require reservations. The food was good... It is Jamaica, and it is an all-inclusive that caters to family/kids. So don't go expecting true 5-star dining, however every meal we had was at the very least acceptable, and some very good!

Being an all-inclusive, yes there are drinks all around and a few folks who probably should have quit a few rounds before they did...

The service ranged from decent to outstanding! Remember, being a good/understanding/reasonable guest usually brings you much better service.

We thought the Concierge rooms were worth every penny - restocking the fridge with beverages of your choice. Our rooms were right on the beach - it was great. Right outside door was chairs and a table, then right onto the beach. It is NOT a 7 mile beach, but small (maybe a few hundred yards wide and only a dozen or two dozen yards from room to water's edge). However the scuba diving, snorkeling and other water sports are just a few yards from our room door. Keep an eye on the smaller kids on the beach, easily.

We heard reports of a few customers without hot water, however our room was fine throughout our stay.

There are definitely caveats, yes. However our experience was overall great. If you go there with the right expectations, it is a fun place with plenty of pools, bars and water sports that is fine for families and groups with kids of various ages.

Room Tip: Stayed in the "honeymoon beachside" rooms and thought it was worth it! Concierge service i...

We just came back from a week at the resort. Unfortunately, we had bad weather 5 of the 7 days there so of course this impacted the overall experience but it was still positive. We have 2 children ages 4 and 7 months. We also traveled with family who have a 2 year old. The ride from the airport is close to 2 hours so that can be rough with little kids but fortunately, they were OK. We were greeted at check in and although we requested adjoining rooms, cribs and King size beds, we were not given that. However, they were very quick to make it right. Long story short, both families got upgraded to a beachfront, concierge suite from just a regular room. Rupert kept checking in with us to make sure everything was alright and was genuinely concerned in making sure our trip was great. Fortunately, they were not at full capacity so they quickly upgraded us. My suggestion is too definitely ask for an upgrade as they will accommodate if available to make you happy. Our new room had a huge deck with table and lounge chairs and was very close to the beach. It's a little walk to the restaurants and pool but this resort is fairly small which is good in some aspects, especially with young kids. There are 3 sit down restaurants, a buffet and a BBQ place which was great. We started getting tired of the food and wished there were a few more restaurants but not the end of the world. We ate lobster tails 3 times on the trip! I would say the food was good. The staff was always very, very friendly and never said no to you. We asked for special food for the kids and they always made it! Always keep your things in safes and inside as a neighbor said they had something stolen, however, we did not. They ran out of towels a lot which was annoying sometimes. The kids waterpark, pools and beach was great! They had a ball. The Sesame Street characters and show was amazing! They put on a 30-45 minute real show every night. You almost felt like you were at Sesame Place. The staff doted on the children. The best part of the resort is the KIDS CLUB!! The staff was very good with the kids..especially KIMONE and Oley!! We saw them the most which is why I'm specifically mentioning them. We even had Kimone as a nanny for 2 evenings with the children. She is so caring and good with them. My 7 month old had a little cough and she called on the phone the next day to see how she was and when we were leaving, she quickly came to the lobby desk to say her good-byes. It was so nice to be able to have some down time, as a parent, and feel that the kids are in good hands. Really, this is why I'm rating the resort a 4 versus a 3. Even though there were hiccups, we enjoyed ourselves, the kids were entertained, the staff was friendly and the kids club was great. We will definitely come back to Beaches Resorts but will most likely try Negril or Turks next time for variety but would still consider coming back to this one as well. Plus, the cloudy weather all week makes us skeptical to come back to Jamaica during this time even though everyone said this was extremely uncommon as there was a cold front from the north. It was still warm but overcasted but at least we were still able to do everything. This is definitely a family resort though...versus a couples one.

This was our first time to an all inclusive and also first time to Jamaica. My wife and three children (10, 7, and almost 3) had a fantastic time. I cannot say enough about the food and drink, absolutely fantastic.

The service was the best I have ever experienced ANYWHERE. I was floored by how amazing the service consistently was. I truly felt as though it was every single staff member's personal mission to ensure my family had a amazing vacation.

Thank you, Ripton, Jomo, Whorms, Arron, Emmanuel, Zane, Richard, Devon, Chevon and so many more.

Without question, we will be back. Thank you so much.

This resort had so many charming aspects, we couldn't help but experience the joy and fun of a Beaches property. Well you get to arrive over water landing on the first stretch of land in beautiful Montego Bay, then you get an amazing scenic drive to Ocho Rios, getting to take in the gorgeous beaches, water and properties and all the wonder Jamaica has to offer.

Arriving at the property you get to sit down and be checked in, your luggage is looked after and a drink is in hand. The staff make you feel comfortable and relaxed, we got an upgrade to a Concierge room, got to experience a large private veranda suite, which had tall ceilings, beautiful furniture, however we wanted a King bed, so after a bit of rejigging and searching (after being offered a welcome cheese and fruit plate, ) we were whisked to an ocean front room!

The concierge was amazing, great benefit in having them book us into restaurants and excursions as well as stocking the room and bringing robes and slippers. The little touches really make you feel special and the cost is minimal for the upgrade.

The property, won't lie isn't large, the beach is petite, however it's maximized, comfortable, great water which gets deep right away, but there isn't a lot of space. There was no problem having a place to sit and relax, either at the beach or the huge pool throughout the resort. The pool never gets deep enough to go over your head, again all of these features are awesome for families with children. The water park is a great size, lots for the children to do. The entertainment is never ending, kids programs and Xbox lounge and so much more to do.

The food is excellent, different cuisines everyday with Sandals Chocolate Buffet included, as well as dining at the elegant Elenors, where Daniel gave us phenomenal professional service, he really takes pride. Unfortunately the Italian restaurant the Venetian wasn't as much of an impress as others, the bread seemed a bit stale and the dishes were unispired, however the decor and atmosphere is excellent.

The bayside open air buffet always has incredible options. Fresh fruit smoothies, omlettes, pancakes, and much more. The lovely Juanita, (the only one on property) takes excellent care of her guests and learns their names whenever possible.

You can totally relax in a nook and cranny of the resort any time, or find all kinds of activities to do. The resort has many areas to explore, there are 5 or 6 levels and stairs, so do expect climbing, (didn't bother us) the elevator doesn't seem to have air conditioning, it's a few brief moments and used mostly for service, so just enjoy the stairs as your brief exercise for the day and don't dwell.

Beaches offers premium alcohol, the bartenders are friendly and helpful and always ready to pour you a triple or more... There are lots of great activities to venture out on, because Sandals only allows high quality taxis into the property you will end up in a bus for 10, even if there are only 2 of you shopping. The excursions are a bit pricey, so just be prepared for this. A trip to the local market is great but really know how to barter and don't feel guilty or you will pay too much...Also honestly just buy the booze and coffee at the airport to not lug it around, and It's much cheaper!!!

Also checked out Sandals Grand Riviera for the day, amazing resort, so much to do, another small beach, but the property is humungous and you can always find excellent food, drink and activities. Also the Red Lane Spa is worth a trip as you can sauna and then dip into amazing salt and other mineral pools and really pamper yourself. The massages are phenomenal and in general the scents and atmosphere always make you feel relaxed and looked after.

If you are looking for a sophisticated vacation with awesome food drink and quality family time, this is the place! You won't have to worry, there are so many staff members and programs for the kids, you will truly feel like you are at a home away from home.

This resort does not really offer much of a party late night vibe, if you are looking for this, try a Sandals or other property for sure. The disco is there, but it's small and not really a place you'd want to hang out in.

All in all I knew what to expect on this vacation and was so happy to escape the drab winters of Toronto and be in a bit of Jamaican paradise! Weather is awesome, scenery is spectacular and it's definitely a must do island.

Room Tip: Having an Ocean View gives you a morning wakeup with the ocean in your front yard! Totally worth it...
