What a charming surprise. Rooms vary in size but all decorated nicely and very clean. Wonderful owner. Lovely setting area. Cafe open all day and evening. Best surprise were the gourmet dinners which were unbelievable. Would definitely stay again. Dinner is a MUST. All staff went out of their way for our group.

Room Tip: Upstairs rooms on second floor.

We stayed three nights at this hotel on the half board rate (amazing value at EURO 110.00 a night). The hotel is in a very remote location but inside is warm and welcoming. The staff are very friendly and willing to help (to the extent of providing a dinner menu in English for us as we were struggling with our limited Spanish).
Breakfast was served in the bar and you could order anything you wanted from local specialities, fresh fruit, platters of cheese and ham, and fresh bread. Dinner (three courses plus aperitif, wine and bread) was fantastic on each of the three nights and would not look out of place in a 5 star hotel for the quality of ingredients and presentation. We could not believe all this was included in the price but it was. The only thing to note is that dinner is only served from 2030hrs and breakfast from 0830 hrs. This may be a bit late for some but is probably not unusual in Spain.
The room was modern, attractively furnished with a good bathroom.
Do not be put off by the location, this is a great place to stay less than 1km from the motorway connection to Teruel and down to the coast near Valencia.

On the positive side this is a clean and very comfortable hotel, it has air con and good sized rooms and is peaceful and quiet - except for the music (see later). Car parking is quite safe and secure.

On the negative side, the hotel is over a mile away from the town of Puebla del Valverde - pretty much in the middle of nowhere and is overlooked by a large (we believe ham) factory. There';s a small area out front and a grassed garden over the road where you can sit and enjoy a few drinks but the canned music is terrible and will get on your nerves very soon. Food wise the, we found it all a little pretentious. Although the waitress was lovely and tried hard the food was pretty dire and not to our taste at all. It was mostly made up of pig fat which we were to learn is something of a delicacy in parts of Spain - ask for pork and you'll probably get slimy pig fat at some point! We did enjoy the salad based starters though - they were excellent.

If you like driving, then when you leave here take the road through the mountains towards Villel and pick up the N-330 - wonderful scenery. Also while here take a run to Alberracin about 20 miles north and walk up to the old castle - superb, ancient place which is steeped in history.

We would staye here again as the hotel is extremely comfortable but we would have to go eat somewhere else.

A spotless, plush wonderful place to stay, the owners a Mr. Victor and his better half couldn't have possibly been kinder or more helpful. We really have been around but nothing beats the care and attention the owners give to their guests. Their attention to detail is second tone.
A truly nice experience worth visiting, the food delicious, it's a must for tourists and destination for skiers in winter.Good parking, the place being very well equipped has been tastefully decorated, the only but we found was that the owners don't speak shakespeare's language we the Brits think that wherever we go abroad everybody must speak our language but it's about time we change our mind well you know when in Rome do as the romans do

Station Buffet
What an understated name for a really superb hotel, value for money, top class food, top class accommodation and warm friendly staff.
This family owned and run hotel is all you could ask for and more. The restored property retains all the character and charm with the benefit of elegant, stylish and modern finishes. Not a sign of cheap materials used in the high quality restoration work.
The hotel has it’s own restaurant and also a separate breakfast room, the meals are 5 star, modern, tasty yet with traditional resources. The flavours, freshness and quality are in my opinion only matched by deluxe hotels and high class restaurants.
The bedrooms are beautifully designer styled and finished, the beds were so comfortable and the furnishings of highest quality.
As a stop off point from Southern Spain to France or UK it is a well kept secret but would suit all traveller styles and needs. Newly weds, artists, writers anyone looking for a quiet location close to many points of interest.
Two small points which prevented it from being perfect for international clients,
1. The directions from the motorway ( approx 1 KM ) are slightly confusing.
2. The TV has no English programs (News)

I would give this hotel a 15 if I wasn’t restricted to a maximum of 5 will visit again and again and again.

Room Tip: All rooms are beautiful and well placed see web site www.lafondadelaestacion.com/

We found this by accident, thinking we were booking into accommodation in Teruel (it is 23km south, exit 92 off A23).
It is set literally in the middle of nowhere, in very austere country. The classic farmhouse exterior masks a modern (4 years old) well-appointed designer interior. There are 11 rooms, 3 with 4 beds. A tapas bar as well as a restaurant and a breakfast room. The food is superb and the staff welcoming (it is family run).
Guest rooms are quiet, large, and very comfortable (an excellent bed). There are two guest lounges with an extensive library of Spanish(only) classics.
This place is excellent value and is a Gem in the desert.

Room Tip: This is the country: there will always be strange noises in the night.

This is a lovely hotel. Its surrounding are not so good as they are next to a factory in barren countryside. However, do not let this stop you. As its price implies this is a boutique hotel with a super restaurant and lovely stylish rooms rooms all with underfloor heating - so none of those horrible central heating noises to keep you awake.
This hotel is near the motorway so very good for sightseeing and ski-ing.
