Like most of the other reviewers we stayed here for one night at the start of our holiday (and again for one night at the end).
It's only a small place (apparently Wallawwa means bungalow), set in a beautiful garden and miles away from the beach, but it certainly helped us to unwind after our flight from Dubai. The staff were superb and the meals were also very good.
It classes itself as a boutique hotel and the rooms were certainly not your normal style of hotel room. A largish bedroom containing 4-poster bed with mosquito netting, small wardrobe, tv, tea & coffee facilities (but no convenient socket) and air conditioned. The bathroom was separated from the bedroom by a curtain and contained toilet, sink, large mirror and unpartitioned shower. Again, no socket for a hairdryer, which annoyed my wife.

It's not cheap, but it is really relaxing. There's nothing to do at night apart from enjoy a leisurely meal and then chill out.

This is a beautiful hotel only a 30 min drive from Colombo airport, and a great way to have a rest before setting off to explore the rest of the country. The hotel itself is stunning, and has beautiful decor, which is simple but fulfills all the requirements. The breakfast area offers lovely views across the grounds.
We only had breakfast, but the quality was very good. And the staff were most helpful in arranging a driver to take us to our next destination of Galle.
I would highly recommend this as a short stay stopover. I had wished I had been able to spend the entire day here just relaxing. However, I imagine it may not be suited to longer term stays, as while it's lovely it is a small hotel in a not particularly central location.

Actually, thats a bit tough....it's much better than an airport hotel. Only 25 mins from the airport- great rooms, nice (but cold) pool, food was good...staff very slick and attentive. Hotel gardens nicely strewn with day beds, all well kept. Interconnecting rooms worked well....all much more 1st world than we'd been used to. An Ideal last night stop.

Forget Negombo and the functional hotels near CMB. The Wallawwa makes a first or last night in Sri Lanka a pleasure rather than having to put up with the typical airport hotel experience.

Definitely a boutique feel, with quality oozing in every respect.

Some of the reviews below are probably a bit enthusiastic bit it is nice, the food is good and as a transit point very hard to beat.
Not a place for a long stay as little to do in the area, but the only sane choice for a location close to CMB.

Our travel agency advised us to stay here only one day, but we thought it would be better to stay here two nights. We are so happy that we did that.

The hotel is conveniently close to the airport - only 20 minutes drive, nevertheless it feels very secluded. As the hotel has limited rooms, there is no fuss at the arrival. They just say welcome mr X, shall we show you your room. As we travelled with our children we booked two rooms. One room was very nice, large bathroom, big bed, but then we entered the other room and that room was huge. Everything is very well maintained and as there ar not so many other guests, it really felt that we were staying at a friends house. There are different area's for reading, playing games, just wondering. There is a nice, yet small pool and there are nice outdoor games to play.

The food is amazing - we've eaten in so many Michelin star restaurants, but this tiny restaurant really tops most of those. This place is highly recommended to adjust to the Sri Lankan weather and time at arriving in Sri Lanka or to unwind after being shaken and stirred in a roundtrip around the island.
