We took a break from the beach and stayed here for 3 days. It is very beautiful but still being worked on (the East wing is being refitted and is a building site), and the potential is huge. It has a strange feel about the place, so may parts are so nearly very good. The restaurant if you like buffet style is excellent both breakfast and dinner. Service a bit variable, and little or no english spoken. The walks around the hotel complex didn't really test my 8 year old. We walked all 6 routes in little over a day, and on this aspect it is far far short of Chamonix (but then everywhere is :-) ) The kids playpark which costs about 10Euros PER HOUR per child is very poor, and not worth the money. There are a lot of day trippers arriving by train from down the valley, and I would suggest that this is the way to 'do Nuria' Go up early on the train, and walk the most amazing 4 hours back down to Queralbs. This did look like Chamonix!

The hotel desperatly needs a pool, and an outdoor cafe or terrace. There is no outside place for a coffee or lunch, instead served by a rather canteen like winter ski oriented affair.

The room we had as a family room was barely big enough for us all, but then we didn't spend much waking time in this. The public rooms in the hotel had quiet games rooms, reading rooms and the like we used in the evening which were lovely. The hotel bar still allowed smoking (which the Spanish took full advantage of) so we stayed away.

The impression is that when its finished the Hotel could be first class. The room we had needs re-furbished, no outside area, no pool, restaurant OK, and its not finished.
