“Bedrooms need refurbishing”
Reviewed March 1, 2011

OK all round but nothing special.
Liked: Lovely village. Staff helpful. Everyone we met in village helpful. Breakfast was really great. Lovely sunny, nicely decorated, dining room. Good waiting staff.
Disliked: Ski bus was unreliable on day we tried to use it so had to use our own car to get around as hotel does not offer complimentary ski bus. The swimming pool was only 26 degrees which is too cold when you want to warm up after a cold day skiing. Food at dinner offerred little choice and was no better than chalet food. Our two bedrooms and bathrooms were very dated and shabby. No hospitality tray! I do like my cup of tea!

Dear Guest,
We thank you very much for your stay with us in February and your constructive feedback published on Tripadvisor.com. Our intention is our costumers’ entire satisfaction, we take critics as helpful and we took note of all suggestions, which allow us to improve continuously the quality of our service. Anyway we would like to take the opportunity to comment on some of your points. The complimentary ski bus is leaving 100 meters away from the hotel every 30 minutes and we are sorry to hear that there has been a delay as we have not heard about any problems before during the entire winter season. The bus of the hotel is used to pick up our guests from the railway station and as there is a public ski bus running and the other slopes apart from the glacier are easily accessible within a few minutes walking distance we do not provide ski shuttle service from the hotel. Our swimming pool is heated to 26 degrees as this is the highest temperature allowed by Swiss law for a hotel swimming pool without being connected to any thermal springs or without a change of the entire water capacity every day. Due to environmental reasons we decided to keep the temperature to this level and we hope for your understanding. Our menu changes daily and offers our hotel guests at a supplement of Sfr. 20.- per person per day a four-course-dinner with several options to choose from. In case our guests prefer a bigger choice we do offer an à-la-carte menu as well. Looking at the supplement for the half board we truly think our offer is more than appropriate and we have most of the time a very positive feedback about the variety and the quality of our food. We are sorry to hear that we did not satisfy your expectations and would have been pleased to find a solution if we would have learnt about your wishes during your stay and not only after departure. Regarding our hotel rooms we are constantly doing renovations, all rooms have lately been equipped with new sofa beds and flat screen TVs and we are very much concentrating on the cleanliness of our rooms. They might not all be up to the most modern decoration but they are very spacious and in good shape. After all we are still a family run hotel and are unfortunately not able to renovate the entire hotel in one time. We do have hospitality trays on stock and would have been pleased to put one into your room if we would have been aware of your request. Nevertheless we thank you very much for your positive comments especially about our hotel staff as we think the quality of service and the friendliness of our staff is the most important point. The hardware of a hotel is very important but the software makes the difference to spend unforgettable holidays. We would be very pleased to have the opportunity to welcome you and your family back to our hotel and are at your entire disposal for any information you might require.
Warm regards
Alexandra & Stéphane Wartner

My wife and I have just returned from a fantastic week here, the first time our 7 year-old daughter has been skiing. The hotel staff were excellent - friendly, warm and nothing was too much. As it was the week after the Swiss kids had returned to school the hotel was very quiet and we almost had the place to ourselves. Perfect!

I stayed in this Hotel for a conference. It has a great staff, the hotel is a true 4star with big comfortable rooms, the food is great and the breakfast is big/good to keep you going until the lunch time.
A pitty that one needs to pay for the wireless... but ok can live without it.
Definitely a must go again!

Stayed here during a scientific conference held at the local conference center. Everything was top notch: service, room size, view, cleanliness, food, etc. This is an outstanding meeting site with many amenities.

Stayed here for four nights. There are incredible views in every direction. Lots of pleasant walks and handy for the glacier 3000 cable car up the mountain. Local rail station with delghtful train ride to Aigle with onward connections to Montreux and Lausanne. The hotel is pleasant with large rooms with plenty of storage space. Bathrooms large. Only downside is that furniture is made from contiboard which rather spoils the image of the hotel. However highly recommended for a short break in some of Switzerlands best scenery. The sunset pink on the mountains behind the hotel is a sight that will remain with me for a long time.

I give it three stars because the location and the staff were great.

For the rest, the whole place has remained stuck in 1970. Even the hotel logo is so anachronic it is funny!
The rooms are large but the furniture is ugly and depressing. The bathrooms are clean but ugly and unwelcoming.
The common areas are bland and old-fashioned.
Architecturally, it is the ugliest building in the whole village.

The food is OK for Switzerland but expensive for what it is.
