Our schedule didn't allow more than an overnight stay at the Hotel du Pillon last June, but it was a memorable one. The hotelier was charming and extremely helpful. The full-service breakfast was delicious. The rooms are charming if a bit spartan. Overall, this hotel is a great value and we look forward to a more extended future visit.

I had a wonderful vacation recently at Les Diablerets and I am definitely going back again. Du Pillon is a wonderful authentic Swiss B&B and it is the best priced lodging in the whole town. The owner and staff are very solicitous of all their guests and since I was travelling alone they made a point of taking care of me and entertaining me, even playing tennis with me and driving me to town whenever I needed to go (although it is only a short walk and very very beautiful). Du Pillon is a lovely home filled with beautiful artwork, furnishings and lots of books and grand vistas. The host prepared meals whenever I asked and I helped to pick fresh vegetables from their "jolie" garden. They prepared several specialties of the region accompanied by terrific regional wines. Dinner conversation was always scintillating. My room was beautiful with an excellent bed and a beautiful view of the mountains. I had the bathrooms all to myself and enjoyed looking out at the countryside while I was taking a hot shower. Every day after my beautiful breakfast (with lots of coffee), I used my free access pass and went swimming at the beautiful outdoor pool beneath the alps, then had a quick snack and conversation at the pool restaurant, then I went hiking on many of the beautiful trails. Du Pillon loaned me a bicycle for free and I went riding all around the area. There are also a couple of easy day trips by bus or train to other beautiful local towns such as Gstaad. Les Diablerets has lots of charming boutiques filled with clothes, jewelry, books of the area, local breads, confectionnaries, cheeses (ooh la la!) and outdoor equipment. There are also several terrific restaurants and cafes that are always open and within a few days everyone knew me. Did I mention that Swiss wine is the best in the world? The hosts at du Pillon really made me feel welcome and I miss them already.

I arrived 11pm at the station, and u cant believe how dark it was!! But NO WORRIES, the host picked me up right at the station, and even showed me around the neigborhood (mind u , its a really small town) like tourist center, bus stop to get around, restaurants. I dun think he can be more helpful.......once again thank you! OOO~ location is great if u wanna go to the glacier 3000, or there another cable car route that brings you up the hill where u can do some hiking and i met the cows up there! It was great!!! The house ..oooo beautiful~ rooms & bathrooms( many) ~~ooo~~very cosy & clean ~~ and even the tenants there were very friendly! I felt like i was staying at my host family ( when i studied in UK)~~ LOVE IT.

The Hotel Du Pillon is as authentic an experience as you can expect to find in Switzerland, it's just as if you are part of the family and live here. Francis does his utmost to make you feel welcome, and you'll enjoy the tranquility offered by this region of the Country.

If you arrive by train, contact the hotel and they will happily collect you from either Les Diablerets or Vers L'Eglise stations, which are 25/10 mins walk away respectively.

Rooms are not what you would imagine; The building is old and some renovation will soon be under way. But as I've said, it's like a family home so you'll not find the normal facilities you're perhaps used to (not even a TV!). Bear that in mind, and if you're up for a bit of authentic Swiss tradition, give Francis a chance to show you how it's done.

The hotel du Pillon on the mountainside of Les Bovets, facing the Les Diablerets mountain range and glaciers, has been an overwhelmingly pleasant experience during my stay over a weekend the 7th of May.

I arrived late at night by mountain train and walked up from the unmarked Les Bovets station through some goats and cows tolling their bells. The reception was excellent, with a late night dinner with good local wine.

The rooms are small, but the view is magnificent. You feel as though Hemingway had just been here.

The hotel was bought by Francis Barlier 2 years ago. Renovation of the IXX century hotel is under way, I hope the improvements will not destroy its authenticity and ambiance.

It is a family friendly hotel, it is for intellectuals and dog lovers, it is for Harley Davidson bikers exploring the Swiss Alps.

I can't remember having a worse room in a hotel in a long time, and I travel a lot and across the world. The room was so small that they couldn't actually fit the two single beds in it any other way than by having them at diagonally opposite ends of the room, facing in different directions. I haven't slept in that sort of arrangement since I was at boarding school in a dormitory... Furthermore, the bed I took was on wheels, and every time I turned over, it moved across the room accompanied by an irritating squeak. And the single pillow we were given would not be allowed to grace my sofa it was so thin.

Our room had no balcony and as stated in other reviews, there 4 showers and 2 bathrooms on each floor. In fairness, while I didn't like this set up, I didn't have to wait to use either at any point, so the number would appear to be adequate. Breakfast was ok, and the communal areas were nice, but for the price we paid I have to say I simply cannot recommend this place to anyone. The picture of the bedroom on their website looks nice, but is a million miles away from the room we got. Wish I had taken a photo as words can't describe the room vividly enough. If you do decide to stay here, do anything you can to avoid getting room number 4. You have been warned!
