Stayed ath the Nash Airport Hotel after a week in Fribourg to be closer to the Geneva airport for my flight home.
The Nash Airport Hotel lists (itself I bet) as a three star hotel. They are a two star at best and that is a stretch. Airport driver barely contained his fury over having to pick up passengers. He did not assist an elderly passeger with her baggage and refused to open the baggage trailer.
My first room was smaller than a cheap Tokyo hotel room. At over $200.00/night I was not pleased. Management moved me to a larger room that is obviously part of an airline personnel block. It was hot in Geneva when I arrived from Fribourg, but not as hot as the ovens they call rooms. Ventilation system is strictly 1950s and not up to cooling off a room that had been shut up tight until rented. The room is also from another era -- real door keys neeeded to be used to lock yourself in the room. My second room required crazy manipulations just to get the door to open and lock.
It only got worse. The bar/restaurant seemed to be out of everything (this was a Wednesdayy/Thursday stay so NO excuses) including ICE. I watched in disbelief while the barman sold an expensive bottle of champagne to a man and his wife only to explain that he had no ice to keep it chilled. He would not take the bottle back. I went with the man to the nearby Ramada hotel and begged and borrowed a laundry bag full of ice.
The hotel touted free Intenet stations, but lacked the necessary codes to access their own Swisscomm account. As I had purchased a monthly Swisscomm acct, I logged on only to find that their printer had been out of ink FOR NEARLY TWO WEEKS! I went to the Ramada (again), who let me use their Internet station to print out my Boarding passes. The standard reply to any question to the Nash staff was "je suis desolee," and not offering one bit of help to sort out a problem.
The hotel was clean but I can't comment on the maid service as they decided to skip my room despite having the "Make up room" sign on the door for nearly 5 hours (it's still there).
Overall there are certainly better hotels in the Cointrin area -- some even cheaper than the Nash.
