Just arrived from the States on an overnight flight, checked into the Crowne Plaza and needed some lunch shortly thereafter. La Gioconda is maybe 60 paces from the Crowne Plaza, on the same side of the street, so I figured I'd give it a shot.
Restaurant is nice though not luxurious. I got a pizza and mixed salad for takeaway (carryout in 'Merican) for 22 CHF, so I think there is a discount for takeaway, as mentioned by a previous reviewer (menu price for the pizza I got I think was 18 CHF, 7 CHF for the salad). Pizza was good, not amazing, but perfectly satisfactory thanks to being fired in a wood-burning oven. Mixed green salad was lettuce and radicchio mixed- the leaves could have been chopped more finely to make it easier to eat, and it was overdressed, but still pretty good. The leftover vinaigrette dressing was good for dipping the extra pizza crust in, so a net win there.
Basically, it hit the spot. The hot pasta dishes that were also flamed in the wood oven looked good too. There doesn't seem to be much to eat around this area (or at least walkable from the hotel), so it seems you could do a lot worse than this.
