“Lovely Hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 11, 2014

Impressive when you first arrive ,looks beautiful and is a great restoration job.
The manager at reception is very nice and helpful and checkin was smooth.
There is a book on the desk for you to book in for a free hour at the private spa ,where there is a shower, sauna and a spa bath for you to use . Be quick as we arrived just after 2pm and it was getting booked up already.
Yes it is near a farm but apart from the tractor and a few cow noises it was not too bad .You are in the country after all !
Our room was spacious ,bathroom was very nice .Towels are a little thin though didn't feel luxurious.
Beautiful courtyard where we took our breakfast outside to eat and enjoyed the morning sunshine.
Overall a lovely stay and I would go again .

As the castle is rather smaller than the pictures suggest, it was hard to find at first. It could have been mistaken with some farms around. However, the countryside from Luxembourg is peaceful, beautiful and this is a great location to relax -providing you have a car.
The staff was nice and helpful, especially the lady.
We celebrated a birthday and had a free bottle of Cremant.
The breakfast is OK, all-you-can-eat, solid. Shame the croissants and pains au chocolat are a landing track for the many flies around. The fruit juices are great.
We wanted to try the restaurant and booked but at the last minute they told us that there was "a disaster" and that they couldn't serve us. The staff only gave us a map of the nearby city, saying we'd find restaurants there. No extra mile here.
When our electronic key seemed broken, the staff gave a new card but as it also was defect, he kept on giving a new one, without bothering leaving his desk to check what was wrong. This is a detail but it gives a strange feeling in such a beautiful place.
Good room, clean with a fan, TV and rich minibar. Rich in choice and... in price. Better go to a nearby supermarket to enjoy local wine.
The sauna and massage bath are good, but as it is private, no one would help you in case of misuse or faintness.

Nice efficient hotel, clean rooms. Quick check-in and check-out.
Location is not great, next to cow farm, with associated smells and huge amounts of flies. Thankfully room windows have bug nets.
Small bathroom, no air con but fan provided was adequate.
Good free wifi, small tv.
Average breakfast
Restaurant food is French style, excellent service from restaurant staff but food is average. Over-priced for quality offered.
Great Belgian beer selection for low price.
Would stay again, but only as a one night stop-over en-route.

I stayed overnight at the Chateau d'Urspelt, on the way from Western France to Northern Germany.

The hotel and surrounding grounds are beautifully maintained, and there is ample parking. Check-in was prompt and very friendly. I got one of the top-floor rooms, and as it was a particularly hot week, the room was quite hot (but to be fair, it was really hot outside, and the rooms of next 2 hotels I stayed at were also stiflingly hot). One nice touch, rare in Europe, the window had mosquito netting, meaning that one could keep the window open and the light on without being attacked by bugs. The internet was free and lightning fast (always a plus for me).

Unfortunately the restaurant was fully booked and I had to leave at 4 am the next morning, so I did not test either dinner or breakfast. I did have a fancy Belgian beer at the outside terrasse and this came out to a very reasonable 3 Euros (the price many places would charge for plain still water).

All in all, room prices are very reasonable.

My only complaint, as other reviewers have pointed out, is that the beds are extremely soft, one almost feels like one is about to roll out of bed (in their reply the management has indicated they are addressing the problem).

Room Tip: On hot days, avoid the top floor (rooms numbered 300 and above) as these get very hot and the window...

We stayed here for one night on route to Germany. A bit off the beaten track in a quiet location with ample parking. A beautiful chateau with comfortable clean rooms. The food was excellent and staff were friendly and accommodating.

Charming chateau located in the north of Luxembourg. Very attentive staff, clean, comfortable rooms. Convenient to beautiful country hikes, castles and historical sites. Excellent restaurant on site and quality breakfast. A good place to stay.

Room Tip: Try to get a 200 series room overlooking the countryside. The lamb served at the restaurant is exce...

The chateau is a beautiful hotel. The rooms are nice and the rain shower is wonderful. You get one hour in the private spa areas for each night you stay, which is awesome. The breakfast is amazing! Not just a typical European breakfast. They do eggs, sausage, bacon, meats cheeses, fresh breads etc. the only complaint I would give is the beds are way too soft. More than 2 nights and your back will feel it. But I highly recommend for an overnight stay.
