My wife, two-and-a-half-year-old son and I have just returned from a three night break at Hoe Grange.
The location is excellent, both in terms of local beauty - the farm is nestled in a gentle grassy valley - and access to nearby attractions - in our case this was Chatsworth, Dove Dale, Bakewell and Tissington - none much more than about 20 minutes drive away.
The Peak District offers so much, but it was the chance to share, just a little, in the country lifestyle on Hoe Grange Farm that most appealed to us. Our son William had the opportunity to feed lambs and chickens, and collect eggs for breakfast. He also loved being able to spot sheep and cows from the cabin, and horses just over the wall in the field next to us.
The cabin was clean and comfortable, with all facilities you could need and an eco-friendly approach. We really liked the open-plan kitchen-diner-lounge, and nice touches like the fresh-baked bread in the welcome pack made us feel right at home. I wish we could have stayed longer.
By the way, in case you're misled by the 'Hoe Grange Holidays' name into thinking it's some sort of holiday camp. The set up is a collection of four cabins on a farm. It's very professionally run but it is the homely nature of the place, with personal attention from hosts Felicity and David (and sherherd-in-chief Elliot ), that makes it such a hit.
We shall return!
