“Perfect stay, wish it was longer!”
Reviewed September 5, 2012

Myself and two friends stayed in the Riber Suite on Saturday 31st August for one night for our friend's wedding. Everything was absolutely perfect! The house itself is cosy and inviting with really friendly and welcoming hosts in Claudia and Vil. Our room was beautifully decorated and immaculately clean - we genuinely couldn't find fault! With beautiful views over Riber Castle and the surrounding area and a very comfy king size bed and sofa bed. They were even thoughtful enough to provide us with 3 mugs and 3 wine glasses (instead of the standard 2) as there were 3 adults staying in the room. As well as some VERY yummy biscuits and hot chocolates! As if this wasn't enough, Claudia even offered to give us a lift to the wedding reception in the evening! We declined but she provided us with the phone number of a trusted and reliable taxi driver to make sure we were safe. Much appreciated!

Breakfast in the morning was delicious, perfect for slightly sore heads from the night before! Our full englishes were beautifully cooked and presented, with toast, cereal, juice and tea/coffee also on offer. My veggie friend was well catered for too and we all left with full bellies. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Chesterfield House and wouldn't hesitate in coming back, preferably for longer next time! I will also highly recommend them to friends and family should they need somewhere to stay in the area. Thank you again to Claudia and Vil for being so accomodating and helpful and providing such a top class place to say in a beautiful area.

I stayed here for 2 nights. It is in a position in that it is not on a main road so it was very quiet. The owners, Claudia and Vil are exceedingly friendly and helpful. The room was excellent, very clean and freshly decorated, though it was a little warm at night. The breakfast was delicious too.

Stayed at this B&B for 3 nights and would highly recommend it. The Riber suite is a beautiful loft-conversion room with lovely, comfortable fittings and the dormer windows, which offer great views, make it feel really warm and cosy. Ditto for the great shower room. Claudia and Vil are the perfect hosts - they couldn't have been more helpful and breakfast (I'm vegetarian while my friend isn't) was delicious. Altogether, we were really satisfied and would definitely
stay here again if ever in the area.

Room: Riber. Had been to this B&B as I was unable to get any place in Matlock and had read the review in trip advisor which was convincing. The first impression was not that great There was no scenic view from the room and being a loft converted room with low roof caused my head to get hit several times. The same was the situation with my wife. Had earlier planned to stay for 2 days but reduced to just 1 day.

Cluadia and Vil were the perfect hosts form the very first greeting it was just like being at home with family.
Breakfast was excellent, we were staying for 3 nights and after the first one we realised that we could not take all that was served to us, so the hosts tuned it to our specific requirements, which was all we needed for the day.Room was very comfortable and extremeley clean. Will definitely go there again.

We know the Matlock area quite well, and were looking for somewhere very last minute for a Saturday night stay - and we are so pleased we found Chesterfield House. Being on a budget we opted for the Derwent room which was perfect for our needs - its not large, but has a very comfy double bed, lovely en-suite and all the little touches that make you feel welcome and at home. Its also a quiet room as its at the back of the house and has a lovely view over towards Riber Castle. The owners are extremely welcoming and friendly (even when you only book 3 hours before you arrive!) - and have worked really hard to create a beautiful home. We would definitely recommend you give this place a try!

We enjoyed a warm welcome at this lovely B & B and highly recommend you pay it a visit. Our room was tastefully decorated, the bed comfortable, and the breakfast excellent. Vil and Claudia provided invaluable assistance in helping us to find local attractions and to make further travel plans.

Room Tip: Derwent was a quiet room with a pleasant outlook.
