Location is just perfect with lots of things to do around without driving far. On arrival the site and the lodge was very impressive and the fact that we got their early and let in was a bonus.
It was very cold outside but the lodge held its heat well. On arrival the lodge did look clean but some old crisps and some ladies tights were found. There were a few other issues such as mold in one of the bedrooms and the washing machine did not work but when I went to reception a new washer was placed and the mold was cleaned. They fixed these very promptly but a little apology might had gone far. The Swimming pool was good fun and it was free but the gym, spa and indoor play area you do have to pay for. The indoor play area is not cheap when you have 3 children and you only get two hours but well worth a visit.
The forester was quite slow and then we were over charged £14 but the food was good so as long as you’re not in a rush I would go again. Overall we really liked the site it’s not one of the cheapest out there but the location makes up for it. As it is a bit more expensive than others little touches might have been nice like a dishwasher tablet, washing up liquid and extra toilet roll.
Would we go back? Well yes at the right price because all the above are only little issues and I would like to go back without the snow so the kids could have a really look around the site.

Stayed as a family of four. 2 adults 7 & 11 yr holds. Lodge was lovely. Modern but cozy. Facilities top rate. Swimming pool modern & clean. Forest walk was picture postcard in the snow. Yes no network but wifi made up for it. Completely chilled. Will come back!

I have just returned from my fiftieth celebration weekend staying in a pine lodge with a hot tub in this beautiful forest . The accommodation is of the highest standard , clean, we'll resourced , excellent quality bedding, towels etc. who ever designed the lodges and equipped them have thought of everything
. The woodland walks are interesting with a short obstacle course and good terrains for a pushchair .
The staff (all) are so helpful and friendly nothing was too much trouble. We dined in the restaurant which has a real varied menu with local seasonal produce. The food and presentation was beautiful cooked to perfection and again the staff made my birthday evening a most memorable and enjoyable one.
Overall a fantastic venue which is run by dedicated staff with very high standards, we will definitely return.

We usually let positive reviews (and thankfully there are plenty of them) speak for themselves on Trip Advisor, but on this occasion we just wanted to thank you very much for your very kind comments about our staff in particular. I can assure you that getting feedback such as this really does make it all worthwhile and we genuinely do love to see guests having a great time. It will be a pleasure to welcome you back again any time and thanks again for your posting.

No complaints at all. Great place, lodges well kitted out and comfortable. The park is well placed for walks and loads of days out. Didn't use the facilities (pool etc) but they look good. Elvaston Woodsman lodge very nice with own sauna, would highly recommend! Staff seem very friendly.

Room Tip: Elvaston Woodsman lodge very nice!

Just returned from a 3 night break at Darwin Forest Traveling with my husband and 15 month old son, we arrived at 15.30 and were made very welcome our lodge number 45 was ready for us, The lodge was lovely modern, clean and had all the amenities you would expect, the hot tub was already up to temperature which was nice as we have previously stayed in lodges that this was not the case on the first night.
We visited the bar on site again very welcoming, our first night we had a heavy snow fall which was lovely sat in the hot tub, the next morning the snow plough came and cleared the roads to allow us to get out and about, we visited the children's play area little monkeys our son enjoyed this however on Sunday we found the on site soft play area which was much better for his age and we had this to ourselves.
The wild life was lovely with morning visits from Robins, Squirrels and rabbits on our veranda we managed to get some lovely photographs as our son was amazed !.
We used the swimming pool which again was clean and very helpful as the changing rooms we family orientated.
All in all a lovely relaxing break would recommend this holiday to families and couples we will defiantly return.

Room Tip: lodge 45 good location not too close to the park entrance but also close enough to use the park'...

A fantastic fun filled day at Darwin with a great afternoon spent in the Soft play area. This is just a children's dream to spend time here the staff were great with true care for the children and great party food also.
We then booked a table at the restaurant for 2 adults and our son ,we arrived at 4 and was met with the fantastic new conservatory as a very welcoming place to eat your Sunday meal but after talking to Mandy this was totally out of the question due to Health and Safety that children cannot go into that room.
Wow if it's Health and Safety that's a major problem it means No Body should go into that room it must be safe for individuals of all ages not just Adults.
The waitress Mandy then seated us in the older part of the restaurant that had been passed as health and safety clear and we ordered our food.
The meal was great and of a very good standard.
The failure of this establishment was the waitress Mandy and I would recommend a customer relations course to be taken as soon as possible.

Glad to hear that you enjoyed your day out, but we are sorry that you experienced problems in Foresters. To enhance the enjoyment of our bar and restaurant by both families with children and all adult parties we have designated most as a Family Area, where children are most welcome. Our Conservatory has been allocated as an area most suitable for 'all adult' dining parties. The glass topped tables in the Conservatory are better suited to adult parties too, but we are pleased to be able to assure you that this is not for reasons of health and safety.

We visit Darwin Forest Last October with 15 members of the family for a long weekend, this park has everything you need lovely resturants, swimming pools, games room for the kids and mini golf, we stayed in a Skyline Spa with hot tub on the veranda which was lovely and relaxing to sit in after a day of walking round all the local sights such as:- Bakewell, Haddon Hall, Matlock Bath etc. We would recommend anyone to stay here it is a lovely friendly park with even friendlier staff who love to chat, we will visit again in the near future. There are lovely walks in the woods within the park itself and if you feel a bit atheltic there is an asault course for the young at heart on the walk through the woods.

Room Tip: Hot tub was a bonus
