Villa Maieletta is not just a holiday apartment but a Home to all the travelers out there.
Kate & Stephen really make you feel like you are a family member from Day 1 and try to introduce you all the best places to visit in the area. I completely fell in love with this place after 5 weeks and had a hard time leaving. It’s like Hotel California, you only want to check in but you don’t want to check out! You must come & experience yourself! It’s truly a worthwhile and the best experience that no one can miss. Beautiful view of the mountains, friendly neighbors, helpful hosts, friends & adorable cat named " Long".
Dear Kate & Stephen, thank you so much for your friendship and hospitality. I can’t wait until my next trip back. Love you all.

“A fab holiday for those who enjoy beautiful scenery.”

It was my first time here in Abruzzi, not quite knowing what to expect found the mountain area really enjoyable. There are some lovely villages around to visit Casoli, Palombaro, Pennapiedimonte, Chieti, the coastal town of Pescara is 40mins away by car,` it is also the nearest airport.

The Amaro apartments where on two levels, a large bedroom & bathroom with a balcony to enjoy your first cuppa of the day on the Ist level, with a spacious lounge & Kitchenette on the ground floor all very well maintained.

We stayed at the beginning of November just the time for olive picking we decided to give the owner s Kate & Steve a hand, it was really enjoyable, don't get me wrong it was hard work but found it very therapeutic, seeing the end product, delicious olive oil was brilliant.

You will love driving all around this beautiful area then getting your feet up for a lovely glass of Italian wine only 3 euros a litre what more can I say Fab!!

“Peaceful, picturesque, rustic, very relaxing!”
Reviewed November 26, 2013 for a stay in October 2013

We stayed for a week in October. Upon our arrival, although late in the evening, we were welcomed warmly by Kate and Stephen. We stayed in the Amaro Apartment which is absolutely gorgeous, roomy and comfortable and the kitchen was very well stocked with everything you need. There are lots of beautiful spots outside to sit and take the stunning scenery in. We never tired of waking up to the sun streaming through the doors to the balcony. We hired a car and took trips into the nearby townas and villages nestled in the mountains. It was an amazing holiday, very cultured and relaxing and one we will certainly be repeating. We are already planning a return visit!

“Great location, Spacious apartment would recommend”
Reviewed October 8, 2013 for a stay in July 2013

We have stayed in the area a few times and I must say this villa has been laid out to provide really good living space, feeling spacious and extremely well equipped, absolutely everything you could need. The villa is tastefully furnished with quality fixtures and provides stunning views of the countryside. The great location and easy access is ideal for exploring the area and with a restaurant 5 minutes walk away for those nights you don't fancy cooking it was perfect. We enjoyed the silence surrounding the villa whilst only being 10/15 minutes into town. Self catering is easy with a local supermarket 10 mins away and with the fruit and veg being locally produced you can taste the freshness and wonder why your shopping cost is so much cheaper than at home! The area itself is delightful from towering mountains to quaint hilltop towns inhabited by really friendly people. Stephen and Kate were great hosts and always on hand for useful advice and making sure we had everything we needed. This all made for a fabulous week, and great value for money.

“Excellent place to explore the region from”
Reviewed October 7, 2013 for a stay in September 2013

We stayed for 12 nights at Villa Maieletta and were welcomed heartily by Stephen and Kate. The villa is very well equipped with all the usual utilities in the kitchen and some extra touches that you don't usually see. Like a juicer.

My husband is a tall chap and Kate even supplied us with an extra large (the biggest I've ever seen!) towel for him.

The area is very Italian with the locals all very welcoming and friendly. We got the feeling they were pleased we had chosen Abruzzo to explore because it is one of the unspoiled areas of Italy.

There are some lovely restaurants around and we enjoyed an evening at Flamenco, here we enjoyed excellent service and good food, reasonably priced.

Pennapiedimonte is a lovely little village and if you walk to the top of the village there is a path cut into the side of the mountain that affords some fantastic views.

I'd also recommend a trip to Fara San Martino. This little village is home to the mouth of a valley that you can walk into. Plenty of climbers can be seen scaling the mountain sides.

All in all we had a very relaxing holiday, enjoying the simple life, the views, the food and hospitality of Stephen and Kate.

“Sorry but i could not do it in 1 sentence it would not do Villa Maieletta justice... please see my husbands poem below”
Reviewed August 15, 2013 for a stay in July 2013

Having spent in 5 weeks travelling in Italy, it was wonderful coming to Villa Maieletta and to meet Stephen and Kate, our hosts for 5 nights. Before meeting them they already made us feel so welcome, their communication was excellent, information abounded out of every email and nothing was the slightest bit of trouble.

On arriving at Villa Maieletta we were greeted with a huge smile from Stephen while he opened the driveway gate, there was a cold bottle of bubbly and water in the fridge for us we, a terrific welcome pack with all the information you would need for your stay and a lovely personal welcome from them both. Our villa was just terrific; the welcome pack with all our basics to get us settled into our home was very much appreciated.

Both Jovo and I felt like we were family coming home and after our 5 days we were both sad to leave our new found friends and a jewel of a find in the Italy's Abruzzo which is off the tourist track and unchanged…..we have terrific memories of the gorgeous people we meet and astounding villages and regions we travelled…here is 1 of the poems written by Jovo whilst we stayed at Villa Maieletta…

Britain is still invading

If you think the Empire
Has stopped its outward reach
Take a trip to the Polombaro region in Italy
Its in the mountains not the beach

Every second person we met
Has come here from the UK
Buying up the local villas
Planting olive trees raking hay

The young seem to be missing
Most moved on to the city
Some lost their lives in a recent earthquake
Yet the landscape is so pretty

Figs and plums adorn the roads
But the pot holes they prevail
Don't trust your Tom Tom's directions
On some tracks your car will fail

The towns have their own dialects
So they look upon strangers with a smile
Be you from as far as Australia
Or a village from ten miles

Stephen and Kate our hosts
Run their villa with precision
Always offering trip advice
Happy to assist in your decision

We met Gabriela today in Maria's bar
She comes from London Town
Reminds me of the eccentric blond in the movie
Under Tuscan Sun ... so brown

Not happy with the invasion of Brits
She'd prefer the place was left alone
So she can chill in her Italian hideaway
A place she now calls her home

The people we meet ... places we visit
Are all part of our adventure now
Even if in this region you feel
They are still living in the 70's somehow

We also met Vincenzo
A builder from Perth escaping the cold
Here in holidays yet helping with building advice
To more local Poms ... oh what stories to be told

“Sumptuous views, dramatic hikes and perfect hosts”
Reviewed July 30, 2013 for a stay in July 2013

The owners, Stephen and Kate, were waiting to receive us on our arrival in 35 degrees of Italian summer and welcomed us with a cold beer each. They remained the perfect hosts thereafter, providing advice on the local area, walks and hikes, suggestions on local amenities and Stephen even joined me on an early morning run. The majestic views of both the 2500 metre Majella mountain range and the more serene valley below Palombaro were a stunning backdrop for breakfast. The apartment was well kept and well stocked with all that you'd need to self cater - and if there's something else you need then Kate will almost certainly have it! The windows and balcony doors are netted and shuttered allowing you to choose to shut the heat out or allow the breeze through (without the mosquitoes!). In 15 minutes you'll have direct access to walks and hikes in the Majella range, 30 minutes to the spectacular Fara St Martino Gorge and 20 minutes to the wide range of facilities in Casoli. The venue is ideal for hikers, cyclists & skiers - indeed anyone with an active holiday in mind; or to just relax and solk up the indefatigable Italian hospitality, culture and culinary delights. Palombaro is a short (if energetic!) walk or a 10 minute drive and is worth sampling both for the pace of local life and the superb Trattoria Dal Pagano restaurant (try the montepulciano d'abruzzo wine!!).
