“A perfect few days, in a perfect home, in a perfect place.”

Have to say, I think it is very rare to find a place in which you can relax and inhabit from the very start. The house is so lovely, everything is thought of and if relaxation is your aim, you will find it here. Fresh ford is a beautiful place, whatever the weather and the local gallery shop and tea room is a treat. I loved sitting outside the house and watching the world go by and goats munching, with a glass of wine and total peace.
Hope, nay will, return.

“romantic retreat”
Reviewed December 9, 2013 for a stay in November 2013

We spent a blissful few days at the Coach House and enjoyed every minute. The building has been tastefully modernised to provide a warm, comfortable place to stay. The furnishings are simple but luxurious including the fluffiest white towels I've seen. Selina gave us a warm welcome and provided a wonderful hamper with thoughtfully chosen items including bottle of wine in the fridge. The view across the valley with sheep and goats will remain in our memories for a long time.
Freshford is a beautiful village providing architectural gems, river walks, wonderful landscapes, a decent pub and shop and if you ever tire of the Coach House and environs a 9 minute train journey will take you into Bath.
We would most certainly stay there again.

Fabulous place to stay in the most enchanting little village. Ivythorpe Coach House is the perfect location for a break. Well equipped, beautiful interior, with the added touch of a hamper for a tasty breakfast. Selina and Bill are very hospitable nothing being a bother.
Ivythorpe was a short train journey to the centre of Bath making it the perfect choice !

“Chic and cosy cottage”
Reviewed November 28, 2013 for a stay in November 2013

We had a lovely three days staying at the coach house and would have loved to stay longer. We were looking for a relaxed and comfortable family break and it certainly fulfilled our expectations.

The coach house is gorgeous - very luxurious and beautifully decorated. The beds were amazingly comfortable, the ensuites luxurious, the kitchen really well stocked and the space worked well - so it was a really easy and enjoyable place for us to stay as a family (2 adults, a 3 year old and a 10 month old). The under floor heating was fabulous!

All the little things like nice linen, kitchenware, hand wash, Netflix etc were great and added to the experience. Selina also provides a welcome basket filled with all sorts of lovely local produce. The local store is about 10 minutes walk away and filled any gaps and also made great coffee. The playground behind was an added bonus for our girls.

The cottage had everything we needed including a travel cot and a highchair Selina provided. We could have happily spent our days exploring Freshford and hanging out at the cottage it was so comfortable and well appointed.

But if you want to go further afield the train station is a 5 - 6 min walk away with enough trains to make the trip to Bath simple. The local area also has lots of lovely walks which worked well for the girls (we had a backpack for the baby). Freshford itself is very pretty and people were really friendly.

We stayed without a car and had no problems - the commute from London was pretty fast (do make sure you reserve seats on the train though) and everything we needed was in walking distance.

Selina was really welcoming and made everything easy.

We have already recommended the cottage to a number of friends and would love to visit again - it was the perfect English village experience.

A really stunning coach house with beautifully designed interiors, under floor heating and magical views of the village Church and fields that are drawn into the sitting room by floor to ceiling windows. Ivythorpe is wonderful place to stay. We stayed with our one year old and loved every minute as it quickly felt like a home away from home. We ventured into Bath using the train station (which is 5 minutes down the road and 15 minutes) making days out relaxed, super convenient and a little adventure for our daughter. Bliss. Would strongly recommend Ivythorpe to anyone who loves design, comfort and wants to escape to a beautiful part of the country.

“State-of-the-art Convenience & Old World Charm”
Reviewed October 12, 2013 for a stay in October 2013

The Ivythorpe Coach House, located near Bath in Freshford, UK, is a lovely gem. We experienced a friendly, warm welcome and a quick registration process through Selina Hutchison, the owner. The Coach House has been newly renovated, offering state-of-the-art convenience and old world charm. Selina was a gracious host, who was attentive to our needs, and went above and beyond to create a cozy home-away-from-home experience for us as guests. When we arrived, we were delighted to discover:
• A welcome basket with all the essentials for breakfast and beyond (bread, wine, cheese, fresh fruit, eggs, bacon, condiments, milk... excellent local fare)
• High quality toiletries
• Superior design, fit and finish of the Coach House - the workmanship was amazing. Everything was fresh and new, yet the charm and character of the Coach House was maintained.
• The kitchen was fully equipped with quality appliances, dishes, etc. for eat-in meals.
• There was an ample supply of tea, coffee, sugar & milk, as well as the fresh herbs on the kitchen window sill to add to our morning omelette!
• The view from Ivythorpe is excellent, including vistas of fields and hiking trails, as well as the historic buildings in Freshford.
• The Coach House is centrally located to many local attractions, with train service that is walking distance.
Our only challenge was finding the Ivythorpe, nestled in the beautiful but narrow, walled streets of Freshford. We recommend arriving in daylight if possible.

It is clear that the Hutchison family has put a great deal of thought and effort into making the Ivythorpe Coach House a lovely home-away-from-home for guests. We loved the architecture and design of the Coach House, as well as the many extras we had not expected. It has a homey, welcoming feel and is excellent value for the money. We would highly recommend a stay here for families, couples or friends looking for something special!
