“No Management Presence - and it showed”
Reviewed January 28, 2013

We looked forward to a good Sunday Lunch here - based on the positive reviews this place had earned.

I don't know if this was an off day, but the service was terrible. Trying to get our order placed took at least 15 minutes, and then to find that the roast beef was off (on a Sunday!) was inexcusable. We settled for lamb instead (we had the last of that as well). It took 50 minutes to arrive from placing the order. The lamb was below par - fatty and greasy. What wasn't below par was the price - it was £12 a head. This certainly did not qualify as value for money in my book.

There were three staff running around like headless chickens who seemed a bit clueless in dealing with a busy pub. I asked to speak to the manager to voice my concerns about both the standard of service and the quality of the food - to find there wasn't one on site! I found that incredible! No reason was offered for that absence. On its website, the pub is described as "family owned" but in fact it is not actually run by the family.

This was all a great shame as the pub itself was quite pleasant in a really nice location and serving some nice beers.

All in all, a great disappointment.

“Great pub”
Reviewed January 27, 2013

We stopped here for a bite to eat recently. The Inn at Freshford is nestled within a beautiful traditional English countryside village. A good menu offering everything from sandwiches to burger and chips. The staff were very friendly and helpful and good fun too. Doggie friendly which is nice!

“Old style, but so worth it....”
Reviewed January 24, 2013

The Inn was everything i expected from a country pub and more.........It is incredibly hard to find a old style pub outside of Bath that hasnt been turned into a gastro style restaurant with over inflated prices etc. There was a roaring fire , the chat of locals, familys enjoying Sunday lunch, the smell of mulled wine...it was amazing. Then the food.."wow"..Sunday roast with lamb, i could of eaten it twice. It was everything i wanted for a pleasant Sunday lunch on a cold January afternoon. The Inn had it all. It reminded me good Sunday lunches do exist with good produce.

“Nice food, pleasant atmosphere.”
Reviewed January 21, 2013 via mobile

I went to the Inn at Freshford with my family for my father's 50th birthday, having been there once before and enjoying the experience.

This trip was no different, with delicious food, great efficient service, and a pleasant atmosphere.

I had the roast lamb which was delicious, whilst other family members enjoyed various other dishes from their varied Sunday menu.

The prices are at the sort of level one would expect for such an establishment, with my main course roast costing in the region of £11.

We followed up our lovely lunch with a walk through the very beautiful surrounding countryside in the snow.

“Sunday lunch”
Reviewed November 18, 2012

A warm welcome and a delicious roast. A country pub well worth the trek. And you can walk along the river, through the woods and surrounding valleys and come back for an early evening pint. Perfect.
