We arrived here in a state of consternation as we'd just discovered the Haast Pass was closed and we needed to re- plan the end of our NZ trip which had involved traveling on to Queenstown for our last 2 nights and return flight home, now no longer possible. Neroli was very helpful in our quest to sort things out. And she'd cooked us a lovely dinner which was very welcome after a long day.
Most of the evening was spent in the lounge which had a great log fire, which was just as well as our bedroom was definitely on the cold side, even with the heater provided. I was expecting that, for the price, our room would have been either a little larger or more luxurious, or even both, which is why I'm just giving it 4 stars. Also, the breakfast was fine, but not remarkable considering the total cost.
It is a great location, and I'm sure that in the summer, when the cold is not a problem and the outdoor facilities are useable, it's an ideal place to stay. Neroli was a wonderful hostess although it would have been nice to have been offered a welcoming beverage after a long rainy drive.More
