“"A little piece of Heaven"”
Reviewed January 16, 2013

My husband and I stayed here for 3 days and 2 nights in September 2012. We absolutely adored our stay here. My husband has nicknamed this place "a little piece of heaven." It was so serene and beautiful. You are completely surrounded by mountains and have to take a chair lift up. The mountain lake you overlook is like glass with perhaps a few fisherman here and there. You can hike quite far around, but not all the way due to the massive mountains that create a vertical wall opposite the hotel/restaurant. The food here was really good too (although a bit pricey, but what in Switzerland isn't), they have many locally farmed items and take great pride in their place as well as your comfort and happiness! We would recommend this place to anyone!

Always ask for the daily special, it is really fantastic! They provide menus in different languages so don't be scared to ask.The daily tart is always fabulous too. This place is the same price if not a little less than the restaurant by the gondola, there is more choice and it doesn't focus on chips, you can ski at you leisure and then feel spoilt for an hour or so in real warm and luxury. The log burning stoves give that cosy feeling and the view from every window of the lake is stunning!

My wife and I spent a few nights here with our 6 month old son and absolutely loved it. We have traveled extensively and rank this as a "top 3" destination. The views are out of this world!! If you are visiting Switzerland this is the place to go...trust us. The staff are incredible and the food is delicious. We will be back...

Room Tip: Lakeside family room is the best option!!

We stayed in diferent mountain lodges and huts on our hike from Meiringen to Adelboden but the Hotel at the Lake Oeschinen was definitely the best choice! The room was rustic and clean & the food was delicious. Even if the price is higher than in other huts - its worth it!

Room Tip: Rooms are 130 years old. They are rustic and only of wood. Room no 7 was very nice

After a short but beautiful hike from Kandersteg to Oeschinensee we found a sunny place on the terrace of Hotel Oeschinensee and not only enjoyed the tasty and fresh lunch but specially the friendly and fast service and of course the amazing view over the clear blue lake surrounded by mountains and glaciers. The owner even showed us around so that we could also see the rooms and inside restaurant facilities which are kept traditionally and tipical Swiss just like you would expect it up there! Everything was clean and very well maintained. The only negative thing we would point out was the price of the gondola we took down to Kandersteg... Pricy but worth it!

This was the 4th time I stayed at Oeschinensee and I love this simple Hotel. The owners and staff are super nice. Their enthusiasm and positive manner is very uplifting and enhances the mountain experience. The rooms are simple, neat and clean. Modern bathrooms and showers are conveniently located down the hallway (no big deal). Restaurant service inside and out on the terrace is very prompt. The menu selection is limited, however, the quality and cooking are excellent. Many of the produce, herbs and spices come from the owner's organic farm operation. The nights are very quiet with an occasional sound of a cow bell in the distance. An after hours self-service bar and guest lounge area is featured on the second floor. If you are looking for simple accommodations, a friendly staff, and great scenery, this is a good please to stay.

Thank you very much. You can't imagine - some people are bothered by the "noise" of the cow bells. We would be happy to welcome you again in our house.

Stayed 2 nites at this little hidden secret place. We loved the view, solitude n quietness if the place. It felt like u were in a little piece of paradise away from the rest of civilization, v close to nature.
As this place is on a mountain location, it can get v chilly in the evenings n early morning, even during late summer. Remember to cone prepared! Room has a heater so that helps.
As this us a mountain lodge with no attached bathroom, we were q mentally prepared that it would not be yr usual run-of-the-mill type of hotel. So we weren't quite shocked at the fact that the room was v simply furnished. But the room size is really quite small but at least there was a sink in the room. We stayed at a lakeview room so that more than compensated for the simple n small room. Everything was made of wood so the floorboards r rather creaky. U also need to find yr way to the restroom in the middle of the night as the common corridor lights are off unless someone switches them on. So that makes it rather inconvenient. But other than these minor inconveniences, the view is absolutely amazing! We woke up early on the first morning n walked around the area. The air was fresh n crisp. Pollution free. So rare in this world we live in.
We also rowed a boat in the lake. It's a surreal experience to be out in the middle of a beautiful blue-green lake n surrounded by mountains n little waterfalls. Loved the experience!
If u wanna stat here, be mentally prepared that this us NOT yr typical hotel. It is really a mountain lodge where u stay to enjoy the surroundings more than anything. Bed was comfy just that room was simple n sparsely furnished. Also wished there was an ensuite bathroom.
It's not a suitable place to stay with kids as the room may b too small to accommodate parents plus kids. It is a must-see place for nature lovers though.
Check this place out if u have the time n money.
