I stayed at the Chalet Bergblume for a week in September 2017. The chalet is a convenient couple of minutes walk from the Oeschinensee cablecar station and an easy and pleasant ten minutes walk from Kandersteg's main street and the closest supermarket (the Volg - it's a couple of minutes further to the Co-op). Parking is close by, but you will need to carry your bags up maybe three dozen steps from the car park to the chalet.
The chalet is beautifully presented (I've included a couple of photos) and very comfortable, with a well equipped kitchen and a spacious balcony with a great view across the valley.
My only criticism of the chalet would be that there's no proper shower, just a hand shower over the bath. That's probably not an issue for most people, but worth knowing.
Overall I really enjoyed my stay and would not hesitate to recommend the chalet to others.
Extremely spacious and comprehensively equipped chalet with both patio area and balcony, affording lovely mountain and valley views in close proximity to the gondola station up to the stunning Oeschinensee. The friendly owner, Martin, lives downstairs and was very knowledgeable and accommodating. Parking is about 50m below - as the chalet is on a hillside - so there is a climb of ~40 steps to get to the front door. Chalet Bergblume is in a quiet location on the edge of town with only a 15 min downhill walk into the town centre, which is full of restaurants, hotels, and shops including 2 supermarkets. The chalet has TV, DVD, wifi, and lots of books and boardgames. The perfect base for exploring this spectacularly beautiful area.
