The cambrian was one of the best hotels i have ever been to and Adelboden can be discribed with one word "heaven) they have a very sexy swimming pool with amazing views and fantastic staff ..

Room Tip: a room with the mountain view will be awesome

The Cambrian is in the middle of Adelboden with a spectacular view across the value. The room (a junior suite) was large with a balcony, great bathroom and stylish furniture. In general, the staff was friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay with a few caveats:

1. They don't have enough parking and hence you may have to use the town lot, which is a bit more expensive. Also, their drive way is a bit of a chaotic mess and some of their parking attendants don't seem to have a strong grasp of either German or English.

2. The Spa is very small and it was all booked up when we were there.

We spent 1 night at the Cambrian and it was really nice. The weather outside was cold but a nice little fire place warms you up (with tea time and cakes at 4.00PM). The deluxe panoramic room as very confortable (large bathroom with walkin-in shower).
The diner was average but the breakfast is really worth it! Very large choice and nice service.
The only negative thing was to be woken up early by the cleaning ladies talking loud in the hall in front of the rooms. We mentionned it at the reception so it shouldn't be a problem anymore.

Room Tip: Panoramic rooms are facing great mountains, pool side.

I stayed for two nights at the Cambrian in mid August with my girlfriend. We stayed in a Junior Suite with a balcony. On our arrival we were greeted with chocolates and a wonderful fruit selection in the room. The room itself was beautifully fitted out with plenty of space and was very clean.

The staff were very friendly, spoke good English and were helpful. Breakfast in the morning was a standard selection of juices, tea, cereals, pastries and hot food. In regard to breakfast the only criticism is that the 'fry-up' selection is a little limited (however I've never found a European hotel who does this as well as the Brits).

The Spa consists of some steam rooms, massage room, indoor pool, small outdoor pool and half a dozen sun beds. You have to book a massage, the rest is there for you to enjoy - and it's very hard not to enjoy. The outdoor pool is extremely warm - a great place to relax and catch some sun - if you want to swim then use the larger indoor pool.

The most important thing is the view - make sure you get a balcony over looking the valley as the views must be the very best in town. You get an amazingly unobstructed view across the valleys of the mountains from the Spa, breakfast room and many of the bedrooms.

Many people have commented on the cost of visiting - this is not an issue with the hotel so much as all of Switzerland - it just isn't a cheap place!

I would recommend visiting - especially in summer when it is extraordinarily warm!

We stayed in the summer and were quite happy with our experience. The area is very scenic, reminiscent of the South island of New Zealand.

Our first room was 'nice' but had a bit of an apartment type feel - it was long and narrow but with a large balcony. We got switched to a top floor room which a much smaller balcony but was much more interesting as it could see the beams supporting the roof. Depending on your taste, you might prefer one of the other. Fit and finish was good. This one had the same view but from so much higher up that you didn't have to overlook anything which made it nicer for us. You definitely want rooms with the view to the east.

Food was very nice. The breakfast was included and was nice - although for some reason there was only one day where someone was there making omlettes. Not sure where they went after the first day. The dinner menu was varied and the meals were nicely prepared. The wine list was also good.

My wife used the spa and it was a very good massage.

The pool is brilliant. Stainless steel - made for 'wow' reflections in the summer sun. The indoor one was nice as well but the one you really want to be in is the outside one. I can see that it could get quite crowded if you were here at peak occupancy times. The spa area also has a very nice steam room/dry sauna which would be really nice in the winter post a ski day.

The location is pretty much ideal - a minute from the beginning of the main touristy street for shopping.

Internet is included - always something that should get mentioned and encouraged.

The only downside, this is Switzerland and boy is it expensive here. This is not a place to be going and thinking about a budget as you will blow through it rapidly here. This is not a town for back packers having to count their money as they go along.

We did a great hike up to the falls and up the tram. Very scenic. Be advised, if you want to walk down its a serious trip that pretty much requires 'gear'. The path was not well marked and we ended up going down the 'klettersteig challenge' inadvertently. When people say 'it gets rocky' what that means is you should have lanyards and harnesses!

It was a very nice hotel in a very nice location albeit expensive (primarily due to being in an expensive location in an expensive country).

Room Tip: make sure you have an eastern view of the falls
